  4. Thanks Jack I will also be drawing the winner of the James Frawley guernsey for the sponsors so will advise on the site if the winner is not in attendance.
  5. How does one organise some advertising for the site? Although in Queensland this can be taken advantage of for all demon fans.. I have an online pet store..

  7. From a corporate perspective, it could be better but from a footy fan - and an interstate one, I dont mind it too much. From a Qld standpoint, we get he Lions and GC in NAB cup which we could reasonably expect to win both - of course we all know that anything can happen with this group. Then mid season we get the Lions again up at the Gabba on a Sunday afternoon which should be pretty good for crowds.. we aim to have a function after this game . I shall be negotiatiing with the heirachy to ensure we dont have a repeat of last season.
  8. Very happy with the round one of NAB Cup. Aside from it being on my home turf, we are drawn against two teams we should beat and get our 2012 campaign off to a flying start... if it's true about landing the Pies in rd 2,well lets take em on... nothing to lose really except the NAB cup. Queensland Demons will organise something - not sure it will be an official function, we will have to see what the AFL comes up with in the main draw however we can have all visitors and locals together to celebrate the start of a new season,. As you are a Qld'er I feel we need to recruit you.. email me if you are interested in joining our group.
  9. I remember both the pre-season and main season games v Lions and cursed Clark numerous times for his work in those games. If he can be that tall option in the forward line our entry into the forward line may be far more direct. I recall the times we blitzed those teams we got it from one end to the other quickly and made it hard for the backmen but still lacked that one important cog... he is our cog . This will straighten us up and even if he doesn't mark everything, his height and reach will be a major hurdle to opposition backs. What spills can be mopped up by our crumbers and goals aplenty.
  10. Great News! Went to bed thinking we had been beaten to the punch yet again and woke to find the club had been hard at it and managed to re-invent the deal and grab him from under Freo's nose... Allthough I previously stated I was impressed he opted for family and his original "committment"to the dockers, I am very pleased he saw sense and came to a team he will make a real difference to. Welcome to the Demons, Mitch!
  11. I wouldnt mind him if we could get him pretty cheap. Our main problem is we dont have a big presence up forward at the moment. If Lisle is as good at standing the mark and can take the big defender then Watts, Jurrah and Howe etc can crumb around him and what he doesnt mark is up for grabs.. Maybe he can learn to kick goals and we might just have something on our hands. Shame about Clark but it is a fine thing that he stood his ground and didnt opt for the big dollars. Maybe it should be a lesson to a certain GWS recruit.. money isnt everything!!!!!!
  12. Yes I would have to agree with the majority Franklin first - we need a big strong focus up front to take the pressure off Jurrah and Watts Selwood - you just have to admire him and his three premiership medals Pendelbury - Aside from getting a top notch midfielder, I love nothing more than to take from the Pies. I could probably shop a lot more but that would make our team pretty damn fine.
  13. When he used to play for us (SS) his marks were punctuated by everyone around us yelling "Stretchmarks!". You had to be there but it was yelled quite often over his career.. and never seemed to get "old" We could be all yelling it out in years to come...one ... two .... three.... STRETCHMARKS!!
  14. I wouldnt object to Goddard but I would want him to want to come, not just because Carlton can't afford him and we could. As for how they would pay, well thats a different kettle of fish altogether! They cant do any deals as we were warned about that when we contemplated 3rd Party deals to keep Scully. If the AFL looked the other way and allowed him to be employed by one of their "companies" eg Visy or Mars then I think a few clubs besides us woudl be up in arms. Geelong were warned off when they sought to keep Ablett too so I expect they would be very curious to find out how the Cheats could manage it. I dont think we will get any big names this year but of course I could be proven wrong and would gladly suck it up.. I think from anytime 2012 trade and beyond we will get players wanting to wear our jumper and clever list management will see it happen.. We can only take a few though - we cant breach the salary cap can we?
  15. I used to go when I lived in Melbourne many moons ago as Johnno was my fave player and he often featured in the count. Now I would love to go but its a bit out of my budget at the mo when I have to add an airfare from the GC on top. Hope you all have a ball and yes, I think Moloney will get it.. I would love it if we could get a video of his speech as it would be from the heart and quite spine chilling too.. Good luck to all players..
  16. I dont generally watch it cos most of it is rubbish and we rarely have any mention however I thought cos we have our new coach and all that it might feature some Demon news and now, if tis true that Jack will be on, well I will tape it and watch it tomorrow.. its on too late here and some of us like our beauty sleep.. plus the added benefit of taping it is the rubbish can just be fast forwarded and only have the good bits..
  17. Its a clear sign that if you dont perform you are out.. Prob could have been a few more too but they cant ditch the whole team as Casey got their very own flogging. I hope Sylvia takes it as a challenge and plays a blinder and will be back for West Coast.
  18. It was immensely satisfying to wipe that smug smile off Hird's face. The joy of Bailey and the team on the siren was palpable and even brought a tear or two to my eyes. Ahh the joy of victory.. makes the pain of last week seem but a memory however I wonder had we not had all that criticism last week would we have got up for that performance? One would hope so but you just never know which Melbourne will turn up..
  19. Hey Nick As the fearless leader of the Queensland Demons, I have asked around and yet to find anyone who will be broadcasting the main event. Had it been on earlier we could have organised something but everyone pretty much has to work tomrorrow so it wont work. What idiot decided to put this game on a Thursday???
  20. I, too, got right into the game when it appeared that they might have a sniff. The young kids were doing ok and sucking up the pressure from their more experienced opponents. Ablett was leading the way along with the ex Lions and the young kids were getting more confidence as the game got closer. Well done GC. I will be following their progress this year and may even go watch a game or two. We were predicting last week the team we thought would be first to lose to them and it was North that was considered the most likely. I dont think anyone expected them to beat Port over there but there you go.. where there is a will, there is a way and they showed lots of will.
  21. Glad those that came enjoyed themselves last year - it was a great atmosphere. It is a shame we are being penalised for the actions of a few and I have told the club just that. I know they are concerned for the safety of the players but they have to toughen up a bit too.. if they go out they could just as easily be groped and jostled.. I hope that we can work something out for next year as the Qld and indeed interstate visitors say how much they love coming up and we love hosting them. I am still waiting on a reply from the club. I sent the email Sunday after our game. This function is also our primary source of raising funds so no players, no function, no funds. They have said they will donate some items for a raffle but I dont think a jumper is on the menu due to problems with the colours this year. They said a few things and perhaps a hat. I suggested perhaps a voucher for the Demon shop so that the winner could buy online or at the shop itself. Not sure I will hold my breath for that one tho. Look foward to seeing you all after the game. Just come upstairs as per the norm however I dont think we will have staff up there. You may have to buy downstairs and bring the drinks up. Depends on how many we look at getting along. Ciao
  22. If anyone wishes to complain or voice their disappointment to the club, please feel free. The more they hear it, perhaps we can work it out for next year. BTW Training is at the Gabba and the club should have details on times in the email they are sending. From what I was told last week it will be around 3.30pm that they finish.. only a short half hour session of training. For those in Brissie thats not too bad but I dont know I will be going as I have to come up from the GC and petrol is just too dear. I can see them on the field the next day.
