This is just like the Powell thing and he got the same offer and knocked it back and ended up at the Saints. They should take the two years, play like they mean business next year and it could get extended.. never worked their logic for not taking two years and working on a third by playing a great season. Sure they might not get it extended right away but better chance than ending up a dog!!!!!

As I dont have Fox and live up here in sunny Qld anyway, is anyone able to tape the game for me? I am happy to pay for the tape and the postage. It isnt on here at all and although I fully expect it to be a rather ordinary game, I would like to see it. Anyone that can help - I would appreciate it. Thanks in anticipation

Dean is already free of his PA obligations - hence the reason the announcement was made early. PA sacked him so he could get on and start the new phase in his life and our club. Guess he will probably go to the game on Sunday and so now what do the players do? They will have to go hard to impress for their spots in the club - does that mean we will win????? I am on the fence in this tanking thing... I want the draft picks - the best possible ones but dont like to see the club lose either. It will be ridiculous if we are level and Carlton kicks the ball to our end instead of their own....I believe they are doing their utmost to lose this game on Sunday with the team they picked- half our best 22 is in the medical rooms!!

Tell me why Bailey or Hardwick, with teams in the finals, would want to risk coming to us just for an assistant role? Ok they might be the likely successor to Sheedy but there are no guarantees on this and whos to say they wont get the chance at their own club before Sheedy retires from the Dees. Madness and if I were them I wouldnt settle for any less than the #1 job now.

Yes, was just thinking that myself. Should Hardwick or Bailey get the nod over Sheedy then they must have impressed the panel quite considerably. Sheedy has done heaps for football and as we all know, been involved in a few premierships including one painful one over our beloved team. He had great credentials and would certainly help the club re sponsors and general marketing of the club but I am not 100% convinced he is the man for the coaches job and doubt he would be into Chris Fagan's old job either. I think we have to trust our panel and our board to select the right man and if he is a new boy then he must have the right stuff and hope he can teach our boys how to think the same way...

I thought one of the criteria was that there had to be some premiership success - in which case Connolly wouldnt be there in top 2 let alone in top 5 which he is. I met him a few times when he played for us and he is a top guy but not the one for coach. We need someone who is tough and hard and will not put up with any crap. It has to be "earn your spot or Beach Road" and with no exceptions. This leads me to think that it would be from Sheedy, Hardwick or Bailey.. I see Bailey is tipped to be the man and although I know little of him, he is coming with some strong endorsements. I am not expecting to be Premier in 08 but a top 8 spot would be on the cards with a fit and healthy playing group. I expected what we had would get us top 4 this year but alas injuries have dealt the club a cruel blow. I await the annoucement with some trepidation but will support my beloved Demons no matter what.... Bring on season 08!!

Yes Pineapple would be your best bet I think. I dont know of other places in brissie cos I actually reside on the Gold Coast and one of my rare travels north is for the game. Shame you wont be here next week, thats when we really show our colours. See you all at the pineapple next Sat night.

Well first up let it be said that I have been a big fan of ND but did recognise some of his faults and can appreciate others opinions on whether he got a dud deal or not. For our new coach? Well its tough. I think Ratten or Viney would be my choice however I can see the pros and cons for someone like Voss. I really dont know to be honest and guess we have to trust our board to get it right. They have said they will put the new coach through some exhaustive tests for their abilities in varous areas of critical importance and will be using an outside source to help narrow the field ( assuming there is a field). The new coach will need to be tough on our players, show them they have to earn their spot in the team and should they be out of form, back to Sandy they go and the ones who have worked hard should be promoted. Simple strategy however one that is often neglected. We need to get our players in a place where they dont succumb to lower teams like we have in the past and put the foot to the floor and crush the suckers! No more Mr Nice Guys. In this game the Nice Guys finish last. One advantage to our less than perfect year is that we will have a few choices in the top 20 of the draft and there are apparently a number of good kids to choose from. Perhaps not the Judds or Pavlich's of previous drafts but maybe just what we need. WE also need to weed out some of the players that are just not going to get us where we want to go and I wont go there now. MOst of you would have an idea who they are. I think But to ND, I am sorry you are not going to be coming to Brissie for us Qld'ers to thank you for your 10 years of service to our club. We wish you well for your future and as long as it doesnt involve beating the Demons, that you have a long and successful career.

Thanks guys, one of our Demonlanders (9.David Neitz) has kindly offered to send it to me after taping it this morning. Knew I could rely on the forums to come thru and this was my first place to check after family failed to come thru. One went so didnt tape it and the other was going to but I had said I would so didnt. All is well and I will be able to check the game out before we front up to the Pies on Monday week. What a game that will be!!!!!

Got an email from the club yesterday in regards to the game here in Brissie. They are looking to find a local doctor to help out our club doctor ( mainly in the event of some bad injuries seeing this appears to be our problem this year) and would like to use a MFC supporter if at all possible to give them some major involvement in the game. Are there any Demonologists who are medicos that will be in Brissie for the game in July???? If so, please contact Ross Monahan at the club as soon as possible to register your interest.

Miss Bone-head here taped the wrong channel, got home sat down and no footy. If anyone has a copy of the tape that they can send me or copy for me and post up I will happily pay for the tape and postage. So looking forward to watching that second quarter in particular. From what I have read and heard, I missed a ripper. We havent played on a Saturday all year except for one night game and the one we win is on a Saturday and I had to work. This would normally not have posed a drama as I was texted scores all day but when one cannot even put the tape in and set the right show, well what can I say?????? Major pain as I had drink, dinner and sat down to see not footy. Bugger!!!! Have also posted this on Demonology in the hope someone will be able to assist me. xxx fingers

I wouldn't watch every game but sometimes its nice to watch a neutral game and just enjoy it for what it is without having to stress about winning. Enjoy the spectacle without fearing an injury and just enjoying a game. This is not to say I dont enjoy Demon games, I do, very much but I do tend to stress until I am assured we have it in the bag which is usually after the final siren! I look forward to the season on free to air - will be giving up PayTv very soon and saving myself an extra $50 pm which i can put away to save for a trip down south or maybe even more than one!

I voted yes Yes No No because I believe at this point we dont have that killer instinct and winners mentality. Too many of our established players go missing too often when we need them the most and this has to be fixed for us to get top 4 and even better, Top 2. Yze, Bruce, Green and Neita to a degree just seem to go AWOL when the heat is on and if we could get them to contribute instead of relying on kids like McLean to win us a final then we could see that no become a yes. Sure we have some areas that need to be improved but we have a fairly good mix of senior players and good young kids with some real potential in there. Each player needs to step up a notch or two from last year and alas, we are not the only team that will happen to. Shame about that, but thats life and footy! Still I look forward to 2007 to see if any of my wishes from above get granted. Not expecting is the best way with our club, that way you can be pleasantly surprised and enjoy the ride!

Hello SBS (or Channel 31) - Goodbye Foxtel
Demondeb replied to Sydney Pennski's topic in Melbourne Demons
Deb watching SBS - who would ever have thought!!! Once confirmed Foxtel will definitely NOT be broadcasting the footy, I will also be cancelling my paytv subscription. I would have kept it going for Fox Footy but since that went I hardly ever have it on. What a waste of cash! I could be putting that away for an extra trip to Melbourne for a game next year!! -
Wishing all here at Demonland a very merry xmas and a safe and happy holiday period. May all our hopes and dreams for 07 come to fruition and we see the Dees on that one day in September and Neita holding the cup aloft!!!! Only two more sleeps and Santa comes to all good girls and boys - so lets hope he puts that winning feeling and mentality in each and every Demon player's stockings this year.
