  1. Hope JKH does well, I like my jumper with the 24 on it
  2. Didn't we win altitude training with that video competition? Has it been raffled off to fund the footy trip or something?
  3. Are you watching or listening WJ? If watching how do the boys look? Fit and healthy?
  4. Couldn't figure out how to edit my previous post but was going to add it could end up being up there with Razorback
  5. There's a budget horror flick comin out soon I think called Drop Bear. From the look of the trailer it's going to be one of those so bad it ends up being good
  6. If we end up having Hoges, Clark, Dawes and Fitz all down there at once is there a team in the league with a back line with enough height to combat that?
  7. Played local footy for a small town in Northern Vic. Played juniors til the age of 16 then went into the ressies (not due to skill at a young age but lack of a thirds team). Played fwd pocket or flank in the magoos for 4 or 5 years before moving to Melbourne and didn't know anyone playing down there (at my lower level) so gave it away. Came out of retirement at the age of 28 last year in the Pub Footy league in Melbourne (ten min quarters, one every 2 or 3 weeks, ripper!) and loved it. Travelled this year but will be back next year. Had forgotten how much I loved it!
  8. He was the bane of my old man's existence. Would love when I travelled home and watched a game with him. He'd get so wild at Juice, nearly put a stubby through the telly many a time. Still makes me chuckle remembering him up at the screen screaming at him
  9. I've still got 24 from LJ on the back of my guernsey. Hope whoever gets the number gets a game, dunno how you get a number off a silky jumper
  10. Have had a few mates have kids in the past year or so and every now and then keep an eye out for a small guernsey. What I seem to notice is that apart from the AFL stores most sports/department stores tend not to even have any dees gear in stock. You see hawks and bombers gear everywhere in the shopping centres, but rarely dees. Hard to sell when they're not stocked as much
  11. I tried to upload a photo into a post today but it wouldn't work. Is this related to the same problem or is there a certain number of posts I need to rack up before I'm allowed to add a photo?
  12. So it looks as though the midfield is shaping up. What are people's thoughts on the forward line? We have got a wealth of talls with Clark, Dawes, Hogan and Fitz/Gawn, as well as Jumping Jeremy. So if the ball's in the air we're gunna get a hand to it. But what about if it hits the deck, what are your thoughts on crumbers and goal sneaks?
  13. Won't get a chance to watch it as I'm abroad but I'd be interested in hearing how the games go. Was travelling through Vietnam with an Irishman a few weeks ago and he used to play for County Mayo who were in the final, we found a pub playing it and both teams were full of massive units. Didn't remind me of the international rules teams they used to field, all these blokes looked like they spend hours in the gym and were bigger than a lot of AFL players. If a lot of the bigger fellas get in the team it'd be interesting to see how they go against a much smaller than usual Aussie side.
  14. I remember a quote from when we first "signed" him when he was 16 and he was asked what number he'd want and he replied with 24 as he was going to be twice as good as his dad.
  15. I've been away backpacking all season so apart from the first nab cup game I saw before I left the majority of Demon contact I've had has been here on DL. I also check the Dees and AFL apps as well. I bought a subscription to afltv before I left so I could watch any game live or replayed, rarely had internet fast enough to use it and there wasn't many games worth watching.... Really looking forward to next season. Going to get to as many Dees and Casey games as I can, been going through withdrawals. Ps thanks to all you DL posters and mods. In what has been a crazy year for the Dees and the whole Messendon drugs saga you guys keeping me informed on all the changes, charges and such has been bloody brilliant for someone far away from it all. Cheers guys!
  16. Such a beautiful kick to watch, loved those flawless passes. Completely changed fans attitude when the opposition got possession in our fwd 50, went from sitting down disappointed to standing up with excitement knowing he was going to run someone down. Hope he does stick around, there's a lot he can offer the young kids.
  17. Ablett Jr is an absolute freak, a pure joy to watch and so consistently good. As a kid Jakovich was the reason we watched the footy, god we loved him. Watching Jurrah was something else, I loved that feeling/sound that went around the G when our mids got the ball and we could see LJ start moving, you could tell he was going to do something special. It was electric.
  18. I remember being out collecting firewood in 1993 and listening to the radio to the Dees thrash the tigers by 20 goals. Still sticks in my mind as I remember the battle between the flashy gun full forward Allen Jakovich and my fav player at the time ruck rover Andy Lovell for the most goals of the day. All day they went goal for goal and finished with 8 apiece. Would love to find footage of that one. Here's the stats of the game, few names in that list that invoke some good memories http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/games/1993/111419930822.html
  19. My whole family were brainwashed into passionate supporters by our dad. Legend is my older sister's 2nd word after mum was "Jacko" due to dad sitting the highchair in front of a footy card of Mark Jackson stuck to the fridge. I know I was a member in 84 as dad has the old holepunched membership card but I don't remember anything until later in the 80s. My badges were of Strawbs, Dave Williams, Rod Grinter,Sean Wight (had 27 on the back of my first guernsey, still a hero) and of course Robbie Flower. Dad used to happily point out that I had matching glasses and ears of my hero. I still have my autographed copy of Robbie's biography. A couple of years ago at fed square before the walk to the G I got a photo with Robbie and it's still dad's wallpaper on his phone. I rememeber cold days at Waverly and Princess park as a kid going to see the favourites like Chopper Lovell and Allen Jackovich and watching the 2's before the main game, I miss that. I'm overseas this year so won't get to a game, bought a subscription from the afl so I can stream games live and watch the replays, think I might be better off just reminiscing.....
