Fremantle and Essendon good at that price. Where does Hawthorns improvement come from?
-
Costs nothing directly (understand it impacts our FA compensation). Will offer some maturity, experience and pace to our midfield rotations and can play small forward role. From a strong culture and will help develop our youngsters. If its for 2 years makes sense, if 3 as has been rumoured we have paid overs.
-
You state he is our best defender yet he was our fourth choice key defender even before he moved forward? Bartram, Joel Mac and Garland play a completely different role. Watts played back and pre-injury had more intercepts of play than any player in the comp. If there is any sweeping role it will be played by Watts.
-
Why is it a massive loss? He is a third up defender who cant play on the gorillas or on a leading forward. His position in our B & F says more about our year than his performance. I would have Frawley, T-Mac, Sellar ahead of him for true tall defenders. Great third man up but that is all. Happy if he stayed but dont mind if he goes.

Thanks for the good information DD36. Can you advise the basis of your info without relaying your source. -
The once only Nudge/Chili rumor round up
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Tolstoys Nudge's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks Nudge. These are greatly appreciated. Regardless of how strong your sources are these serve my purpose which is to consider what I would be happy with if they occurred. -
First half was quiet but what he did was very clean. His second half particularly his last quarter was excellent.

Would have been nice if more people could see it.

It is an absolute joke that Foxtel, Channel 7, ABC (since they have the VFL) and Channel 9 (since they have TAC Future Stars) are not televising this.
-
We are not talking more scoring shot/inside 50's we are talking a bucketload of both. Yesterday and the two cases you mention all have one thing in common. The favoured side kicked appalling for goal. Adelaide had some fantastic individual performances but Hawthorn were clearly the better team.
-
The thing wrong with going direct is having 26 less inside 50s. Not often that lets you get within a kick.
-
They had 10 less scoring shots and 26 less inside 50's. The only thing that was close was the score because Hawthorn are mentally poor and nearly kicked themselves out of a grand final. Attacking through the centre square at every opportunity made for fun viewing but should have seen them lose by 40+ points.

Is the TAC Cup grand final being televised? I cant seem to find it on FTA or Foxtel.

I agree with this to an extent. My concern is that Caddy has done nothing in his football career yet that should warrant him picking and choosing the club he wants to go to. If he wants to come home, come home. If he wants to respect the club that picked him and gave him his football start dont discount a club that may give them a fair and reasonable trade for your services. This to me says more about him as a person than anything else.
-
Sorry but who the hell does Caddy think he is. How his output allows him to think he can be so selective is a joke. Either you want to come home or you don't. Whilst I understand why you would not have us as a priority to ignore the club that most likely has the best ability to bring you home is arrogant to the point of stupidity. Move on from him and develop our own. I only want players that are hungry to play for the jumper.

The Shape of Things to Come
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
We have enough trouble picking who the good national players are. Once we get that right maybe consider international. -
Cyril had 2 games for the year of 20 or more possessions and 2 games for the year of 2 goals or more. How that gets you in the squad let alone the team is beyond me. Natanui as starting ruck is laughable. Great to see Dempster get the nod as he is very under rated.

Much the muchness for mine.

Some players will play better as the 4-5th string mid. Others will rise to the occasion of being the main man. Wellingham showed last year he could be the latter. He is exactly the type of player we should target.

Jack Watts, Forward or Back in 2013?
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
I could not give a toss whether he is forward or back as long as he owns that position and gives himself every opportunity to play it to the best of his abilities. If he does the rest will look after itself. -
To say a near 27 year old "has plenty of improvement in him" is really answering its own question. He is an ok ruckman, an ok backman and a mediocre forward. He is not soft but does not play with an aggression expected of one with his physique. His natural athleticism occasionally allows him to do acts that make your mouth water. In some it makes them forget the times when his lack of football nous shows the exact opposite. He is not to be gotten rid of for anything but he is exactly the type of second string player who has true currency that could improve our overall list position.

Predatory has nothing to do with drafting it is about trading. Who have West Coast, Essendon and Adelaide landed via trades that makes them better than us? Prismall? Tambling? Sydney and Hawthorn have been very good at this but otherwise the clubs you mentioned I would argue have done nothing better than how we secured Clark.
