Just out of interest, does anyone know the free kick stats?

It's a shame McLean can't perform anywhere near as well after being tagged. It is something that he'll have to learn to deal with now and in the next few years.

brock been tagged by ling but he still fights, he is finally on the up

im so happy with some of the things that happened today

this could be the vertex of the year, bring on the magoos next week baby

and lets have a solid last quarter today

Amen, as Brucey kicks another goal, shutting up Yze_Magic and many of his disciples who have been beying for his blood over the past few weeks.

Robbo's disposal into our F 50 is rubbish! We have enough ball but can not find a target up forward ffs!

Who is on Chapman?

How good did that sound.... Bartram tackle, turn over taken by Wona to Morton... will hear that for years to come!

Inside 50, 7-2 this qtr. Make that 7-3, bloody chapman again!

WORST ON GROUND (By a truly epic margin)

R. ROBERTSON.

I cannot believe how lazy, selfish, and just generally poor some of his efforts have been this afternoon.

His body language is rancid when everybody else is having a crack.

Back to the magoos for you next week son.

Could not agree with your more, and C Johnson, C Garland & C Sylvia to join him.

Agree but Garland would not be far off. He has a dip old Col but just doesn't seem like he has found the pace of AFL.

I've been telling people to give Robbo the benefit of the doubt but he looked terrible today. Like you said D just a lack of interest in everything he has done this year. His turn overs into our F50 are so lacking in any thought process. "See ball, jump for ball(no matter how many team mates I farken jump into), just kick ball, ddeeerrr"

CJ another one who doesn't seem to have found the pace of the big time. I'm sure he will get a few more weeks over the season to see where he is at but doesn't look like quite being able to make an impression at this level.

Wonna had a half decent debut!

Can anybody at Melbourne still MARK a bloody ball!! ffs !!

Oh yes Green took a beauty of a contested mark

Well.... first game we were COMPETITIVE....now we just need some Skills and Better Decision Making !!

Some blokes can feel proud of efforts....some need to hand in their jumpers

i agree, robbo was poor today... i've defended him the last couple of weeks, as i thought he did reasonably well from his limited opportunities... but today he had a shocker, disposal by foot was poor, often put his team mates under the pump... saw him lay a good shepard in the last quarter i think, apart from that it wasn't a great game for robbo...

Good first game by Austin-at least we have one player who can hit a player on the CHEST the majority of the time...

we should not be happy we still lost but much better effort, hopefully it is starting to come together and be a defining moment in Bails 15 year 8 premiership reign at the club and not an abberation in a long dark season of 1 win and a draw

A great competitive game for once.

Only thing that frustrated me in the last qtr were the amount of times we went inside 50 and the amount of times geelong marked uncontestantly.

Sylvia, Robbo, Garland and CJ should all be jettisoned out of the team and/or spaceship.

Aussie's disposal is first class - found the target with the majority of his kicks and shows a lot of promise. Cale Morton continues to impress with another fine game.

My boy Jonesy - well, clearly not his best effort today.

Not great to get beaten anytime, but that was a lot better than the cr*p we have been watching the last 2 weeks. At least we were having a go. Bring on the Roos then the w*ankers, I mean tankers.

i thought CJ was alright today. not the worst.

Sylvia---- he never dominates across half forward--- if he continues like this then he'll never end up as anything.

WHY NOT TRY HIM IN THE MIDFIELD. for christs sake just give him a go.

How many possessions did Garland get today? 1? Not good at all

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
