They are offering us Brent Reilly plus their 1st rounder, and will add Meesen into the deal as well (hes coming either way)

Absolute dreamers. I consider Jared Rivers the only true untouchable on our list

For mine Rivers stocks have fallen somewhat simply because he struggles to get on the park, no one is untouchable however if the deal the Crows have proposed is true as you state it - I have two words for Adelaide; the second one is "off!"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

They're offering Meesen (we can get in PSD)

Brent Reilly (no good)

pick 10 (sure that's useful, but we might get pick 11 from Sydney)

because of that offer, i would not even give the crows anything, just get Meesen through PSD. Seriously what an insult.

As Osama from the Chaser's would say "a Jihad on the Adelaide Crows"

There should be something on Channel 10 sport about this

His stocks have not fallen, rather his importance has grown when we saw the state of our backline in his absence.

He had a groin injury, it was operated on, and he is already up and running.

I wouldn't trade Rivers for anything, not even Judd.

KP defenders who can read the play and use the ball as well as Jared are worth their weight in gold and diamonds and oil.

I can't see him ever leaving the club unless he categorically says he wants to return home... and if he does, I'll cry. It'll be worse than losing Thommo!

I'd look at it, but say no.

A lot also depends on how confident we are on Rivers' injury situation. Reilly is a good player, and a player that I think would be useful to us. Pick 10 is also a good pick. Meesen being thrown in is neither here nor there.

The price is good, but Rivers is too important to our defence. Although the game is changing somewhat and Rivers could possibly become decreasingly effective.

It's certainly an interesting idea, but I think Rivers is too important to our structure.

I have long stated that no one is essentially untouchable. I will continue with that. However with the opportunities comes the resposibility to get a good trade. To me...a good trade is where we gain. Like for like is no advantage what so ever unless its a surplus in one area for a requirement in another.

For mine any club is going to struggle to offer something to our advantage in trading Jared.

as they say ... in this instance ....... "" NO DEAL !!!!! ""

I think the emboldened point is hyperbole to be honest. I'd do it in a heartbeat, he's a good a player and important to our structure, however history says his body struggles (FWIW I hope it remains history) - what good is he in the stands? Everyone has a price. If losing Rivers was to land us say a Rutten or Judd (it'd cost a pick as well) etc I'd be all for it because either of those players would bring us closer to a premiership IMO.

The whole I wouldn't trade player x for anyone philosophy is poppycock IMHO.

Agreed.

He's the type of player you can build a premiership defence around.

Skillful, smart, courageous. One of our most valuable players on our list, and probably the hardest to replace.

I am a big fan of Rivers, he could become the best third tall in the comp but you do not build a team around him. He cannot play on the leagues best power forwards or lead up players. He is a great third man up but he has been injured and has limitations. To me he is not untradeable and the Adelaide deal would not need to be sweetened much past that for it to be looked at.

There's a good stat on Jared Rivers - he's one fo only two players who come in the top bracket for both spoils and marks from opposition kicks.

It just says exactly what we all see with our own eyes, he is a matchwinner. The guy could have seven possessions in a game and three of them would be goal-savers. He is priceless, and by that I really mean there is no price high enough for me to be happy to trade him.

For Judd? On face value maybe, but would it be worth the bitterness?

Definitely no deal.

Rivers will be our quarterback. The combination of his ability to read the play, his good judgement on when to leave his man and be the third man up, and his overhead marking are rare indeed. I am quite happy at having Rivers and Pettard, who is shorter but has similar talents together in the backline because players with their skill set are very very hard to find.

Rivers is worth a top 5 pick.

The dees would never move him that cheaply.

"Tell him hes dreaming"

Essentially, no one is untoucable.

However, there are guys that you won't get given what you think they're worth to you.

I don't think we'll get what we need to win in a trade for Rivers.

Posted
I'd be tempted with Pick 10 and Chris Knights.

I think Knights will be a fine player, but that wouldn't cut it for Rivers.

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
