Unlucky, undeserving, needy, poor and consistently disappointing.

This forum is going to be a terrible, sad and depressing place for weeks when he chooses Collingwood. An absolute train wreck!

o hey thanks for the reminder .

How many suicides do you think we will have to put up with?

Alot.

But really, the main point of this thread is to highlight how excited people are about the prospect of him coming here. It was like Knicks fans in the early 90s when there was rumor of Jordan moving to New York. It was almost set in stone and they were talking about their savour, and then he never left Chicago and they've sucked for 14 of the next 17 seasons.

I've never gotten excited, not even for a second, about him POSSIBLY (and that's the key word here) coming to Melbourne. It's our duty as Melbourne fans to never expect but rather to wait. If you expect it only leads to disappointment when it never arrives.

And I'm sorry, but I honestly don't think Judd will be at Melbourne next year. Everyone needs to chill out and stop talking about "their good feelings" cause you're just leading up to an almighty forum Pies bashing simply because they have more to offer for the guy.

Let's be honest, Collingwood is where it is because their "filth" supporters get to their games, win lose or draw. We're in the situation we've always been in because we don't appeal to the same market and therefore we have a lot of casual fans who don't show up when we lose.

Honestly, if I was in Judd's situation, and I hate to say this with all my heart, but I'd be looking at a football aspect, business aspect and future aspect considering my skill and celebrity status. Do I really want to play anywhere else but Collingwood?

It would have been like Jordan playing for the Milwaukee Bucks.

It will be a sad sad day

Or like Jordan playing for the Bullets... :o

He will play for the MFC

Cant wait

I wouldn't even begin thinking about getting Judd without knowing his medical records from his doctor.

I'm pretty sure the club is not stupid!!

They would not be giving away a Top 5 draft pick and 1 or 2 players without checking his medical records first!

I just wish some people would show some faith in our board....

It is a multi-million $$$$ business..... Not the bloody Doveton Primary School Tuck Shop!!!!

Of course they would.

What I'm saying is that as a supporter there's no point saying that we should go after him when we have no idea of his records.

If he comes it is a bonus, but if he doesn't our midfield still looks strong enough to compete and we will still have pick 4. Who knows that pick may be the next superstar of the competition. Getting Judd as I said would be great but the next Chris Judd may be a kid waiting to be picked up.

Have Faith people

Lyon last night on the footy show confirmed we may not have the money, but we have evrything else going for his

Why wouldnt Judd want to be part of this new exciting era- New coach, New footy operations manager, The MCG, State of the Art Facilities in 09

I know it would be a dream come true...but he aint at collingwood until he announces it

It would have been like Jordan playing for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Like the basketball anaolgy, however, you're forgetting that the Chicago Bulls were pretty much 'irrelevant' before Jordan came along, and soon slipped back into a similar state in the wake of his retirement. Whilst they have acheived some recent on-court sucess after several years of missing the play-offs in the post-Jordan era, their popularity with the public will never compare to what it was when Jordan was gracing the floors of the Chicago Stadium/ United Arena.

The point is, Michael Jordan made the Chicago Bulls, not the other way around. If he was playing for the Bucks they would have been the biggest and best team of the late 80's- early 90's, and you'd be using the Bulls as your example of an 'irrelevant' team.

Chris Judd has the ability to make a Jordan-like impact on a franchise such as Melbourne. He has the ability to draw the attention of the impartial follower, and as we've already seen in his time at WCE, be universally admired by opposition players and fans alike.

At Collingwood, Judd would simply be the 'Shaq' of the LA Lakers. He'd be the biggest player in the biggest team in the competition, but his ability to leave an ever-lasting impression on a franchise would be lost. On-court, the Lakers are certainly not as strong as they were since Shaq's defection, but you wouldn't know it judging from the glamour and countless celebrities who continue to associate themselves with the club.

The point is that like the Lakers, Collingwood is not going to be adversely affected as a franchise through the depature of an icon such as Judd. If Judd were to play for Melbourne, people would still be talking about him in 2057 as they currently do about Robbie Flower 20+ years after his retirement. Judd would almost be bigger than the club he plays for.

Is this an ideal scenario for Chris Judd, or indeed the Melbourne Football Club? Who knows. But you can bet your bottom dollar the Chicago Bulls would give anything possible to attract a player to their club who could impact their franchise in the manner that Jordan did in the 90's, which is the exact reason why the MFC needs to do everything in their power to try and lure Chris Judd.

I reckon this is spot on. But does C-Judd want that pressure? I hope he chooses the Dees but the media coverage is getting so bad I'm suprised there isn't a news flash when he farts.

At the filth he will be big but not bigger than the club. It could be he is bigger than the melbournefc. It has been said before if he heads over to the filth he immediately becomes the most hated player in victoria.

This couple of weeks will be an awesome read in his autobiography. I would love to know exactly what has been going through his mind and how he comes to his decision. I reckon it will be years unitl the truth comes out unless at his press conference he says 'I've always loved the Dees and really there was no choice.'

If we get him...great

If we dont...life goes on..

thats all there really is to it..

I work at the Dandenong Drug & Alcohol Detox and many of our clients come from 'Dovey' and have never heard one derogatory word said about the Doveton Primary School Tuckshop by the fat bastards

It's our duty as Melbourne fans to never expect but rather to wait. If you expect it only leads to disappointment when it never arrives.

This thread says a lot more about why the MFC are in the state they are than what Judd does.

It is a disgrace and highlights why people continually deride the Demons and even more, their supporters.

The highlighted quote, disgusts me and makes me be ashamed to be associated with such fans. Let's never expect anything, we will never be disappointed... how pathetic.

We should not expect anything we should get off our pampered arses and deemand. If this leads to disappointment well boo [censored]ing hoo.

Let's all sit back and meekly accept being also-rans just there to provide a contest, whinge about how everyone makes fun of us and complain about how others get all the breaks.

No wonder so many treat us like doormats when so many of our supporter base just lie down for others. You make me sick.

Unlucky, undeserving, needy, poor and consistently disappointing.

Crap, this attitude [censored] me to tears.

Have you ever been outbid at an auction? Life goes on, new opportunities present. We will have a high pick still and if someone else snares Juddy they will have to give up a hell of a lot, Collingwood more so.

Every time we beat that team I will be able to scream "you chose wrong Juddy". Don't get me wrong, I will be disappointed but far from suicidal. What doesn't kill you should make you stronger not whimper.

I wouldn't even begin thinking about getting Judd without knowing his medical records from his doctor.

S'ppose you're definitely not voting for Kevin Rudd.

If we get him...great

If we dont...life goes on..

thats all there really is to it..

I'm with you ... plus we must learn.

The knowledge we gain in the process will be invaluable.

Football is both a passion and a business ... too much or too little of either can kill you.

If we get him...great

If we dont...life goes on..

thats all there really is to it..

That sums up my feelings

The only thing I can really add to all of this is..

whilst out to get some milk, ....

I stopped by to speak to Madame Rue....you know that gypsy with the gold capped tooth !!

she whispered something to me before offering me some potion of sorts !!

As the mists cleared in her crystal ball , she spoke....

A headline..

"AFL in shock as Judd stuns football world by selecting the Melbourne Demons to continue his illustious career....... "

the rest was just murky.....lol

Well put.

The club is doing its due dilligence and is attempting to move hell and earth to get Judd here, and we should expect no less.

If we don't pull it off it won't be for lack of trying and that's how it should be. It will be disappointing but there's plenty of other blue sky appearing this off season that should keep must of us happy.

well thats it isnt it.. at eh end of the day getting Judd is a nicety not a necessity!! Its not as if we wont have a team without him.:)

Far too much is being placed upon his arrival as beinlg like some magic bullet that will fix all and everything. it wont. It certainly wouldnt not help ( delibertate dou neg..lol ) .

Going back to the original title of thread.. Id put it this way..

The choice of club wont so much define Melbourne as a club but Judd as an individual . :)

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
