Hi People

On the show Gerard Healy, Mike Sheahan, Robert Walls talked about how last week they had Ricky Nixon on and he is the manager of Brett Raten and gave away with out knowing that Brett Raten will get the job at the Blues next year.

Also Ricky Nixon is Chris Bond's manager and the other night Mike or Robert said that "Chris Bond has a pretty good chance of getting the Melbourne job" so I am thinking they got that from last week when they had his Manager there with them.

So it is looking good for me I want the guy to Coach our club and I would like him more than Sheedy.

Anyway I thought I would post this and let you all know.

Great win on the weekend.

is this the same guy whos midfield failed big time against us? no thanks he has no good coaching skills, he hasn't got the X factor like some do and his coaching record is really that impressive. if we want this club to move on he is not our man! Kevin Sheedy will move this club to great heights... i hope

I wouldn't listen to everything you hear - Bond might be a chance, but he is certainly not assured the position. Nixon is just talking him up a bit. I don't have anything against him personally, just not reading too much into what Nixon has to say.

Nope that was Rodney Eade's team.

Bond has been Assistant coach for 8 Years and in two of them were at Werribee and after getting Werribee into the Finals in his second year there he got promoted to an assistant at The WesternBulldogs.

I just don't think Sheedy is our future we need a new coach with new ideas and not someone who hates our club.

It honestly is quite simple the MFC will not be around in 5 years unless we get out act together...

The answer is get Sheedy to coach. He is quality a coach who will add life to the club and get us to be more stable....

He's alot older but by no means over it and when he moves on we can find an appropriate successor....

Give Sheedy the job now!!!!!

I value your opinion and I see where you are coming from however why would you want someone that hates our club to coach our team?

Remember for years he has been our Rivalry and my father tells me he has always hated the Melbourne FC.

But see in 5 years with someone other than Sheedy we will still be ok.

I mean look at Sheedy this year the Bombers are struggling.

But if you want a coach like Sheedy then why aren't people talking about Pagan? he is as good as Kevin or just a bit worse.

Remember Sheedy would cost alot of money for a 2 year contract and he won't sign for a 3 year deal.

I'm not having a go at anyone in particular, but I've heard this a few times - "Sheedy hates our club/hates Melbourne".

So what. Does anyone seriously think Matthews or Malthouse liked Collingwood when they were players? That Thompson didn't want to smash Geelong every time he played them? That Alistair Clarkson was on the Hawthorn bandwagon when he played for us and the roos?

Despite his quirks, Sheedy is as professional a coach as they come and IMO would be fantastic. Would he be the best option? No idea. I won't see the presentations the shortlist will make to the board so I'm not in a position to judge. Judging on his 27 year history with Essendon though, he would be no worse than a very good option.

Can't hold assistants fully accountable for losing a game, who is to say bond would play the same style/ system etc

good point but i'll offer up two examples because they are the only two i can think off...ross lyon and paul roos, and mark riley and ND...

both assistants, similar styles as previous coaches.

part of the reason im not interested in john longmire...

Fair point deanox, but with riley he didn't have a preseason to change the style so pretty much had to keep playing the same, also with the cattle he had too.

An interesting fact is that in the 4 games we have won we have kicked long, i can't remember the exact thing that was written in the Hsun on monday, but it did back up what we have all said, if he kick long, we win :)

Get me a coach that wants to kick long (not pagan like where thats all he wanted) and i will be happy.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
