And would be a genuinely and unfortunately terrifying prospect for our future.........

That article is the most succinct and logical appraisal that we can have in regards to our clubs current state.

So thanks for posting it here Bub :D !!!

Dont see how MFC could appoint either Sheedy or Ratten whilst they are still coaching in 2007. On current basis that means another 4 weeks. Note in particular MFC and Blues play in R22 & so would be impossible to appoint Ratten before then. Also, McKenna etc still have current season obligations. too.

Also, Blues may precipitate events by formally appointing Ratten before end of R22 & would think that would be his first choice so no point MFC shortlisting early unless they want Ratten and he indicates will take the job even if offered Blues one (chances??)

Also, there may less urgency than was a couple of weeks ago as Harvey looks almost certain to get the Freo coaching job & Freo would be offerig Sheedy the "manager" role so would be more likely be Plan B for Sheedy or perhaps ND & Sheedy not on radar for Blues job.

So I would think the timing will be second round - actual interviews with presentations fro the serious candidates during next 2 weeks then a review by the selection panel and short listing to 2 or three over the following week. Will set up for final interviews and appointment immediately after end of R22.

The critical thing is for MFC to be thorough and get the selection right so we can go forward in 2008.

We here in AFL land are simply unused to the notion of 'knowing ' ones destiny before sesons end. This happens all over the world in different codes, let alone life.. So really, why do we take a step back in mock surprise in knoweldge that a contract may be signed and delivered before the ahllowed season's end .

Whomever gets the nod.. it will be all systems same til end of the playing year. I would howver expect the incumbent to be making a stockpile of Melb game tapes to be reviewed once he took up the job proper.

We'll know soon enough.. a month sayeth Harris

DEES: BE BOLD, GRAB SHEEDY

Ralph pretty well sums up whats wrong with us... we far too conservative..

Time to roll the dice.. I really cant see us losing if we did.

Yes we put into place a you beaut process designed to sort the Wheat from the Chaff, but how were we to know that the 'Wry' would become available !!

A smart operation thinks on its feet. A tree lasts because it bends to the storm, it doesnt resolve to maintain ridiculous rigidity when its not called for. Melbourne could take a leaf from the trees !!

Be Bold MFC .......do it !! and do it NOW !!!

Melbourne needs Sheedy like Mars needs air, and who better to get than Melbournes resident martian expert !! It all makes sense :-) The gods have spoken...are you listening Gardner & Co . ?????

i totally agree with that article- I believe the demons have to go out there otherwise we shall die-its that important

i suppose by appointing ratten before round 22 we can gauarntee who will win that final game ;) two clubs want the pick, but only 1 coach does ;)

Sheedy has been great, however I dont think he is the answer for us, Look at Hawthorn they were down and out, they got a young coach, good draft pics and are now flying. Clubs thrive on success, win and they shall come.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
