Assistant midfield coach genius

Featured Replies

I think many on here are eating there words, heaps where calling for Nathan Jones, to be sacked after his first year as midfield coach, they should be ashamed of themselves !!! Where are you now?

The "where are the (insert group) now" posts have to be some of the most painful content to read. It's bad enough when it seeps into the post-match thread, we hardly need a whole thread dedicated to it.

Was anyone calling for Jones to be sacked? I don't recall anyone calling for his sacking. A few peoole, myself included, questioned whether he should be the sole midfield coach.

Brisbane had plenty of clearances directly from Max’s hand, there is still plenty of improvement to be had in that area

Found one!

Our midfield wasn't functioning when it had two modern greats in there. Concerned people wondered aloud if a first time assistant in the midfield coach role who was famed for a now unfashionable style was part of the problem.

Hardly a cause for recriminations.

When psychologists talk about people being responsible for how they respond to circumstances, what they mean is that this thread could have been about how great it is to see a champion of the club appearing to be successfully driving confidence and energy with a young midfield group.

The absurdity of some of these threads ceases to amaze me. Why do people take it personally when a poster criticises the club, its staff or its players? It is our duty to ask these questions as fans of the club - of course it goes without saying that even criticism as its limits.

The club had an all-star midfield that was severely underperforming and getting absolutely smashed in the middle. As it turns out the midfield was a major problem and as a result the two stars and the head coach made way. Id even go as far as saying that Jonesy was probably put on watch given it was his first year and there was a need for continuity.

As for his performance so far, well i think he is doing good and is likely to keep his job for the foreseeable future.

How can anyone - other than those on the inside - know whether any assistant coach is the right person? The assistant coach's job is to implement the strategy of the senior coach. The results we see are surely the outcome of the senior coach's instructions. And, if they're not, we've got a much bigger problem.

Calm ya farm.

You're using a small example of a couple of wins this year to pull out the old "where are those people now".. this isnt a great flex as what you think it is.

I wasn't a Jones basher last year but your argumentjust proves you have zero idea how exactly the coaching formality and functioning operates on a gameday perspective.

Interesting to hear king say yesterday the extra work he & Langford do together where he comes into the club early & work on things together.

You can tell it's paying off

Always find it amusing how certain posters justify their “bashings” of certain ..players..coaches..gameplans etc as their rights as a supporter blah blah & then when proved wrong can justify that as well. After listening to Voss’s press conference which I thought was excellent …mental health especially in young men is huge . Please don’t say that they don’t read the various forums because they do & sometimes it would be nice to be not so negative ..There is always a place for criticism and passion ..some of it on here is downright mean

The players are under instruction to not read the Fan forums as an occasion, they can be more toxic than other Social Media platforms such as Instagram and X

And I’m sure they follow those instructions…

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
