Bedford played 18 games for us.

Couldnโ€™t get a game in a premiership team. No shame in that.

Just like Jordon/Harmes etc. When you are successful you lose good players on the fringes

exactly

I reckon McVee was very different to Bedford. Toby wanted more of a go. McVee was given his. Nobody wanted him and we gave him his only shot in the rookie draft. Put a year of development into him and then gave him every opportunity at senior level.

He repaid us by stringing us along, not signing the contract he said he was going to sign, and then requesting a move to the club that was 5 minutes drive from his junior club - but never looked at him once.

As others have said, heโ€™s the new Howe.

and this!

Freo choked missing 3 easy shots at the start of the Q

Mentally weak

They will still win but it should be 40pts plus

Yeh but it goes both ways.

Look at Toby Bedford.

Goody gave him I think one opportunity, maybe two. Never played him again.

He left and he starts every week for GWS.

So it comes down to favorites too/politics.

Goodwinโ€™s biggest failure was recruiting too many players outside the first round draft to become spare parts rather than to be developed into future regulars. Hence the same favoured players played every week irrespective of form. Look at the difference to who we recruited after he left.

i don't know whose spot those who moan and groan about the likes of bedford, jordon, etc leaving us think they were taking

when the likes of melksham, bedford, and chandler were fringe players on the edge of being a forward half role player for us we were premiers and finishing top 4 3 years in a row - they weren't getting spots over fritsch, anb, and pickett, who were our primary role players up forward 2020-24

jordon was actually in our best 23 virtually every week; first the sub rule dudded him out of more game time then the ridiculous delisted free agency rule probably cost us his retention

players on the fringe of good sides are targeted by other clubs - as we have done this season with the recruitment of cj, as an example, and steele, to a lesser degree

Methinks you mozzed โ€˜em, Dub

nibbs is so gutsy

nice to hear a bit of lupe fiasco after his goals too

Jeez heโ€™s having a good game. Works so hard.Of all the players that have left over past couple of years heโ€™s the biggest loss or at least the one I wish we could get back.

GO CROWS!!!

Finish them!

Choked against the Cats

now this against a depleted crows side

why do i put money on you Freo?!?

Adelaide with the comeback now seven goals to two in the second half against Freo, halfway through the last.

Would you believe...

Carlton's opponent next week.

Seemingly, doth butter no parsnips. You are correct oh wise Gw.

And yes if Faicos is such an integral player , or some sort of footy deity this person claims him to be, then ipso facto, his absence would have definitely impacted the result in some way, shape or form.

Somewhat lowbrow for you Mr Demonstone but very funny and appealing to my infantile sense of humor . I think we all knew a Nelson of sorts growing up. I think I still do.

Gee some quarter by the crows

Freo have the same quality in them to capitulate like Carlton.

Nice to see it happen, again.

Come on Freo. Next goal deals it for them.

Maybe just hold it up.

Crikey.

Pearce BoG

unbelievable all game then that smother

Adelaide look exactly like us when we went out in straight sets

ย

Freo could not have stuffed those 2 kickouts anymore. Surely they've practiced this & they should have been able to find a free player.

But a good win & a good game to watch

Freo pulled it out of the fire

big win for them. Its the sort of game they've lost in previous seasons

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourneโ€™s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time atย Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: โ€œIs Melbourne even at the ground?โ€ Moments later, as Carltonโ€™s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demonsโ€™ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.ย
