Did AMW say anything about his prospects of playing senior footy in the short-term?

Would love to see him back but understand he may need some minutes in the VFL first.

Considering he had a 32 possie (I think it was) first up game at Casey, I wouldn’t be in the least bit surprised if he came in for Jiath if he’s unavailable this week.

Thanks for the info GW. I have to say at half time on Sunday I had tossed in the towel.

It’s funny, our apartment block’s general handyguy is a Carlton supporter and when I spoke to him on Monday, he told me that at half time he told his friends who were all happy for him, that they were going to lose… it’s all a matter of perspective OD 🤣

I had the distinct displeasure of watching Essendon this week vs Norf

My goodness what a rabble of a club they are - if we lose to them in gather round like we have done before my head may explode

Well, we managed to reverse our fortunes against Carlton this week (in spades), so I’m hoping we will continue that trend come gather round.

But he’s a hard taskmaster is ol’ Rooster.

When Rooster posts, you can almost smell the old cog burn.

I remember us going through a period where I didn't care what the margin was our way I would be worried we would lose. It was only after Lever and May join that I got confident that we could defend a winning margin.

Do you not recall the 26 point zone of death in '23 OD.

How many times did we get up by 26 points in the third quarter but lost.

36 points up is my comfort zone these days but even then...........

I think I am back to the worried no matter how far in front we are.

On the contrary SlartiSmartArze, Kalani actually loves a chat. Yes I talk a lot but he gives me a run for my money. Kolt, Luker, AMW and Ricky M among others similarly love to chat. And when I say chat I mean they talk, I listen. True story.

There’s this line from Fight Club…

“When people think you are dying, they really, really listen to you, instead of just waiting for their turn to speak.”

This should apply to everyone. Too many times people aren’t listening to each other coz they’re thinking about what they wanna say when it’s their turn to speak.

The first rule of fight club is to never talk about the match day thread.

Such a brilliant movie! Meaningful and meaningless in equal parts.

Always remember the Chris Sullivan Line.

A huge thanks to Ghostwriter, all posters and special comments, I particularly enjoy the interpersonal info GW, you keep it real for all of us.👍💕

I have long advocated for the position of team mum. Ghosty has just slid into it before the position was even advertised. Might be time for another handle change @Ghostwriter .

Appreciate the personal insights and the trust the players show in her!

I really don’t get them to open up though, but if they feel like talking I’m happy to listen.

It’s the young guys and in particular the young interstate guys who seem to wanna share things and I understand why.

I’m not special but there’s something I know I’m good at and that’s listening. It sounds silly to say that but listening is a dying art. It’s on the endangered species list. It’s a shame because it’s so valuable and important.

You are a born teacher GW....It's a good quality to have.

Got back to Gosch's? That implies you left before the session was over. Who gave you permission to leave before the job is completed? Anyone would think you're a Carlton supporter.

NB: For the avoidance of any doubt it seems prudent given other comments in this thread to point out that this post is sarcasm. It might not be particularly witty, but let me re-state - it's an attempt at sarcasm.

I'm gonna miss Carlton when they go to Tassie.

I’m not, I’d prefer they disappeared in Antartica (along with Essendon)

Great report Ghosty.A 1 / 2 conversation is a long time .

You certainly know how to get a player to open up.

Especially about his private life.

You should talk to the club about you interviewing players for the club website .

Seriously.

( and paying $$$ ! )

You wouldnt want to do a ghosty though.

If they removed the 'odour eaters' the shoes would be safe.

Safer than triple deadlocks on doors.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
