I just ran into CJ. He’s looking at three weeks on the sidelines. No strapping or bandaging on his calf because “The news, man. They can be anywhere, don’t want them knowing any more than they already do.” Naturally he’s bummed about the injury but he says it’s not as bad as what some others are dealing with.

Did AMW say anything about his prospects of playing senior footy in the short-term?

Would love to see him back but understand he may need some minutes in the VFL first.

Yes he said had Casey not had a bye he would’ve had another VFL game under his belt. He said prior to the last VFL game they told him they’d like him to play two games in the twos before hitting the park in the seniors. He said he’s feeling 100% and can’t wait to be back out there

Wonder if cross out will result in blinky bill coming into the side...

I think they've put a line through him

According to AMW Riv likely won’t be playing this weekend. He has a knee issue and they’re looking to make sure he’s 100% before playing him again.

Not doubting the intel but seems a bit unfair that they say he was dropped and he's carrying something . Doesn't that impact his standing / reputation? Or is it more that they don't want opposition to know (surely they can work it out if that were the case)?

Idk why Tom Sparrow was walking taller; he was pretty poor on the weekend if I'm being honest. thought he really let us down in that first half

This is seriously the worst troll attempt i have ever read on DL- bloke has his best game for the MFC and you reckon he was poor?

Are you an AI trollbot?

I thought Tom's whole profile changed from the start in this game. He was doing a lot of inside boys stuff, and in the second half it was tidied up. He knew it and we knew it. A confidence player let off the leash.

I didn’t bring it up but on this, Monners said the club sat Riv down and explained exactly how it’s gonna be handled and that Riv is fine with it. I also didn’t mention Riv potentially carrying an injury, Andy said “his knee issue” like it was common knowledge.

I suspect so as well. Melksham would be the obvious replacement if fit but wonder if they'll put Kentfield in if he's recovered from his knee as well

I just got back to Gosch’s and the second group is out here already. All running laps.

Well in addition to being rubbish at trolling you're obviously equally rubbish at sarcasm. Champ

Clearly wasn't trolling if I stated it was sarcasm. Champ

Luker is running exceptionally well. If I get a chance I’ll try to get an update.

I kid you not, as they’re running laps as a group, Trelly is bouncing a flippin ball and not even slowing down a millisecond.

king on the pre-game on one of the radio stations said rivers was having a 'grumble' in his knee, and that part of him going out of the side was to enable him to 'reset' as he he would be playing behind the ball upon his return to the side

he strikes as a player who will be a half-back for the foreseeable future, not part of the regular midfield rotation

I came back for this session for the sole purpose of seeing Sharpie and he’s not here 😭

Love sarcasm but draw the line at the word champ.

Gee you must have hit CJ hard

Sharpie’s not here because as is the way this season each player has their own schedule and this afternoon was lifting then running for Sharpie.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
