Very gettable at home. They play a fwd handball game and their ball use is highest rated in the comp. Basically, they've been playing fast break basketball very well with 3 scores over 120.

But without Trac/Rowell and a bit of x factor in Humphery Bear, we have a decent chance to win the contested and stoppages this week. It will come down to pressure and disrupting their run and gun. I'd also love some consistent marking and scoreboard output from our key forwards but hey what's new.

They've also played a Geelong outfit who clearly weren't ready for OR, a West Coast side which struggled against a side with OR already under their belt, and also a Richmond side who only had 3 on the bench.

The Suns do look really good, but I think people are overestimating their opposition so far. We might not beat them, but I'm fairly confident we will challenge them within 4-5 goals.

I agree and have always said that Heath should be on the bench. Put Max down the forward pocket and bring Heath on.

For the forwards, I hope kingy tells everyone to put the ball on JVR chest. Not in the air. We need to have an open forward line. There are quite a few angles to our goals.

The Suns have a good forward line and looking good. If we can play four quarters the Demons might ruffle the Suns.

Dam have to miss this week's game to, due to Easter holidays. At the time I was ok about it because I didn't want to sit there & watch trac put on a show but now he's obviously not going to be there.

But I hope we get a good turnout. At least we know we can play some decent footy

Sadly, have to agree - Taylor needs to build some confidence and get used to playing against senior bodies imo. He looks like a kid that has been used to being physically strong in the junior ranks but has struggled to adjust to playing against bigger opponents - he will get there I'm sure but no need to rush it

Adams has been very disappointing he seems likely and then just seems to be easily worked off the ball or out positioned by his opponent - I fear for what might happen if he plays against the tall Suns forwards - King and Read kicked 11 b/w them against the Tigers and would be licking their chops I think at the thought of a Jed Adams match up. I can't work out if Adams is simply not strong enough, his technique/positioning is poor - or both

I'm not sure of Adam's contract status, but if he is out of contract at season's end i'd be very surprised if he gets another

We will get up here with no Trac and Rowell

If we can KOLT LOCK Anderson we'll be in business

Saw an update on the AFL website last week that indicated Rowell's training well and might be a chance for our game....which is a pity as he was deadly against us in the early MCG game last year. So whilst he's doubtful, there's a chance he will return.

I'm in the drop Petty camp when Turner returns. He was a liability yesterday (after getting towelled up last week) and the 4th quarter dropped mark in the centre of the ground was something similar to the Freo game with Rivers and look how that turned out for him.

Petty should be vying for JVR's role as the forward/back up ruck role as he's quite frankly a better forward than defender due to his contested marking and accurate shot.

Some of Pettys efforts yesterday were weak, but he won't get dropped.

I agree with keeping Latrelle in the team. He chases and harries just like his cousin and provides plenty of forward pressure. He hasn't got to the pace of the game yet but he needs games to get there. I reckon his defensive pressure keeps in the team. If that drops off then i reckon he'll go back to the VFL.

I’d be bringing in Kentfield over Heath, I’m really keen to see what he can add. Can we play him, Mihocek and JVR in the same forward line though?

Unless Disco is ready to go early Petty being dropped is not in the conversation.

Otherwise it will be CJ out for Rivers or AMW pssibly/unlikely Heath in to chop out Max and shift the mix.
Reinforcing a great team win and no Casey game last weekend for players to push their case will rightfully limit changes.

Regardless of who comes in I reckon we are a sniff here. That second half was absolutely crazy in terms of the pressure. Pressure is how you beat silky players like Anderson, Powell, Bodhi Uwland and the like.

Granted Gold Coast are no Carlton, but that was an even team performance from a defensive point of view. Sharp, Fritsch and Windsor, players who aren’t exactly renowned for physicality had 15 tackles between them and if we can correct the first quarters and bring the heat and pressure against Gold Coast who will be off the bye without Judas and Humphrey, they may be gettable.

Will be hard to maintain over 4 quarters, but if we get blown out again, there will be no coming back.

Surprised no one has brought up Salem yet. Was really poor in that first quarter then spent a while on the pine until CJ went down allowed him back on.

Has had a few poor games recently in my view with a lack of hardness or speed in his game. Can still perform in patches and they look for him a lot, but is on the decline.

Hopeful AMW can take over from where Salo was.

Seems the obvious target for 'The Nullifier' (Negates Anderson) Maybe Touk?

Or perhaps he just takes CJ's spot (although did King mention that Rivers could be shifted back on return)

Ins: Rivers, Heath

Outs: CJ (inj), Cross (stiff but it’s a team balance issue and Chandler, Fritsch and Latrelle have more weapons).

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
