Smooth mover and designated kicker Josh Lindsay may be an option when we receive a couple of first round selections when C******* P****** is traded to the Suns (yes picks rather than the Bailey Humphry/Gary Ablett Jr package deal rumoured on Demonland).

The loss of Judas McVee and Steven King's emphasis on players with a good outside game may have Lindsay under consideration.

Josh Lindsay has put together a stellar junior resume, establishing himself as a big game player and one with the utmost class. He put his name on the map with best on ground performances in last year’s National Under 17 Futures match, and the AFL Academy’s second game this year.

The 18-year-old went on to nail his spot at half-back in the Coates Talent League Team of the Year and Under 18 All-Australian side. He was tested at elevated levels but his ball use held him in good stead, while testing out his midfield craft increasingly with the Falcons and Geelong Grammar.

Lindsay considers himself somewhat of a “footy nuffy” and grew up supporting North Melbourne. He models his game on the likes of Sydney star Errol Gulden, for his inside-outside balance, and Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury, for his professionalism and longevity.

Josh Lindsay Draft Profile

Geelong Falcons prospect Josh Lindsay is a lethal left-foot distributor with unmatched vision, class, and foot skills.

Looks good.

I’d still love Cam Mackenzie. But as someone mentioned he might be tied up in the Merritt deal.

We are doomed 😂

Also just adding in, not sure if another lefty is a great idea.

We would have Salo, Lindsey, Langford, Chandler, May (probably). Those are the lefties I can think in and around the back/midfield area. Leaves them very much on one side of the field and makes it easy to know which way they’ll turn always.

The 2008 Hawthorn GF side had a minimum of 11 Left footers in there side.

Looks like a superb kick, but can he win his own ball? Maybe, I've no idea, but certainly a beautiful kick. Looks like a more penetrating Salem ajd definitely has some Josh Kelly about him.

Eyes What GIF

Two left-footed, unrelated Lindsay's in the same team.

Brian Taylor wouldn't be able to get his head around it on commentary.

I can do without the judgement of those who would rather keep CP5 than get two more teenagers.

Very much an uncontested player which may limit his potential to go through the midfield.

Still a role for an excellent kick off the half backline or wing, perhaps not to dissimilar to Roberts from the bombers.

Purely in terms of kicking I think this guy might be equal if not better.

him or Grlj would prob be the favourites at the moment i feel? i still like small forward dovaston but the miedfielder may be needed more than first thought

lindsay looks very good in that clip at the top

That’s fair.

I’m no expert, to me it seemed maybe a little too left foot heavy.

Good point.

How would one pronounce Grlj?

We're probably a little two left feet heavy.

I have been a fan of this kid for a while now and whilst he is my second option behind Sully Robey, I would be fairly happy of we nabbed him in the draft.

Rarely, and I mean rarely.does he ever waste a disposal. So clean and and calm under pressure that would suit our game style transition especially coming from half back.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
