I think it's pretty fair tbh.

I think so too.

I wonder if people realise Humphrey finished 4th in the B&F behind a couple of reasonable names in Rowell and Anderson. He also kicked 3 goals in a quarter in the elimination final win. Just to clarify, that’s 3 goals in a quarter, not a game.

The young man is on a very promising trajectory.

My favourite footy club gym reference:

Andrew Swallow referred to rocking up at Arden St and the likes of Anthony Stevens, Adam Simpson, Brent Harvey etc saw the rusty old weights the club could afford as a badge of honour. 30KG is still 30KG whether it’s shiny or not.

While strictly speaking they’re not wrong, pretty concerning when a professional sporting club is still rocking 50 year old plates haha

Melbourne Storm train out of AAMI and their success and culture is as good as it gets! Our facilities aren’t that bad.

It’s not the facilities. It’s the cry babies inside that’s the problem

Boo hoo I get paid a million dollars and my weights aren’t gold plated.

I don't know how we land Humphrey. However, GC would really want Petracca. He is a household name, and would be their biggest name since Ablett jr. Could it sway them? I am not sure. But they probably want, and need Petracca, as much as we do Humphrey.

We just need Humphrey to want us and this deal happens.

I really hope the MFC is doing everything in its power to bring this to life.

At least he wanted us enough to have a chat! Any idea what our chances are?

I agree, hopefully we’ve made further moves this weekend.

I have no idea. All lips are sealed. I’m sure we find out his intention this week.

Difficult sell to come to a club seemingly in limbo… wonder whether they have got Max and Kossie on the phone to him.

And building a midfield core for next decade with Koz and Langford

We've definitely got a door, so we've got a gym!

I’ve warmed to King, but can’t help but think Bucks would’ve been a more attractive option for players during trade period.

Maybe King will be that one day, but hard to get excited about a first year coach at a club with question marks if you’re from outside (having said that I reckon Trac stays if Bucks was here and Humphrey never in play).

I think it’s definitely true that bucks or Longmire if we were able would have bought a certain level of credibility to the club and while the process might have been identical it would have been seen in a totally different way

At GC Humphrey is in a position like Raynor. He’ll be a forward with low mid minutes. Is he happy to be a role player at GC or does he want to be one of the guys. If we aren’t offering him a midfield role and money we are zero chance. I suspect King can see our midfield being built around Langford and Humphrey for the next 5 years. After all, it’s his third year and if you compare his and Traccs third year (2018) it stacks up extremely well (uncanny similarity). And he’s a year younger.

Trac has him covered in hit outs though!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
