Bailey Humphrey

I am not sure the Suns are in a position to ask Humphrey to do them any favours by means of shutting down his desire to go home

Doesn't mean it won't happen anyway

I am not sure that Humphrey's manager really understands that his job is to serve his player, and not the club his player plays for

He is a disaster

It's not about him doing them a favour its about him saving some face after getting flatly denied his wish.

Things like that are never really conveyed in a live interview. The media gets briefed a few hours before hand then the interview gives further context. Suns have asked Humphrey to finally shut down the talk through his manager.

You’d have to ask why? They can tell us Humphrey is off the table directly.

Sounds like a blink first situation

I'm pretty sure they have told us exactly that. This is a pr move.

Can we find out if he did in fact 110% have a medical with Melbourne? Are we actually any chance of this trade happening? Or are we all just equally hanging onto a dream 😅

I can’t answer your first two questions, Sean. But my answer to the third question is Hell Yes! We’re hanging onto the dream because that’s what humans do. And it’s not that BH is the be all and end all, it’s because we NEED something to go our way, something to celebrate after a year from hell. Ima hang onto the dream unless and until our hopes are dashed.

Absolutely they’ve told us that. So then PR to who? The GC fans?

We all know they’re trying to close the deal on picks. They have Barrett saying it’ll happen today. But today we call Trac and tell him it isn’t likely to happen.

130 pages of nothing.

Must be some kind of Demonland record, no?

As others have mentioned, this year and the Petracca situation is as good as an opportunity we’ll probably ever get to snare Humphrey, unfortunately we’ll be competing with every other VIC club to bring him home next year. Sam Mitchell will be in his ear every day for the next 12 months. I find it highly unlikely will be an attractive option for him when Bailey finally pulls the trigger. Was a nice try anyway

If we were actually prepared to shut this down then we would be seeing reports like what Essendon have done with Merrett. Until then it looks very much like the club will settle for picks when all is said and done.

“Bailey had genuine reasons for wanting to come back to Melbourne. Ultimately Gold Coast position is clear and we will respect that. He loves his teammates and will be back up on the Coast next month.”

“He loves Dimma, who is understanding of Bailey’s situation and we know the club will wrap their arms around Bailey and he is looking forward to arriving back at Metricon for day 1 of pre-season

yep . If i was bailey I'd be happy to suck it up for 12 months play in a finals bound team in a great warm climate. Get special allowances to stay in Victoria on away games and force my way out next year to a club that I really want to go to.

Hopefully if Humphrey's manager shuts down any thought of a trade to the MFC our list manager is straight on the phone advising the pretend chef that he has 4 years of a contract that he happily signed and to get very fit in the off season and work on his kicking skills

Club doesn’t have the balls, they will cave for what’s been offered and then wonder why membership numbers have dropped off

Does Humphrey actually have siginificant personal reasons for coming home or is he just missing his Mum's cooking?

Does it matter though? If he truly desires coming home he can cite significant personal reasons and I doubt he’d have to elaborate. I’m sure many a player has done it. The only one I know for sure legitimately had to leave his club for genuine personal reasons is Nibs. There’d be others but whoever knows their real reasons?

Different situation. We’ve allowed Trac to go explore. We’d look stupid if we came out and shut it down.

Just wait until end of today and repeat “not trading Trac for picks. Etc”

I think it can lead to more compassion from an employer if the reasons you need to leave in contract are more significant than just not vibing in a different state.

Like if a players wife is suffering from PPD or they have a sick family member I think most clubs would allow them a move. If they just miss their family and friends then I think more clubs would try and convince them to stay and put some extra support around them.

It's very possible that the Suns have told Bailey that while contracted he will not be traded under any circumstances and he his now holding up the Petracca deal. A public commitment to the Suns helps the GC get the deal done with the Dees with picks.

If he’s “holding up the Trac deal” that’s exactly right. It’s a play. A losing side play.

They need to think of our mental health and simply...

I wonder if the lack of said balls is a contributing factor to this club being perpetually pushed down 🤔
