2025 Player Reviews: #20 Xavier Lindsay

Featured Replies

Melbourne made a strategic move prior to last year’s draft to get a second top 10 pick and ended up securing the classy ball handler capable of playing off half-back, on a wing, and potentially in the midfield. Lindsay’s silky smooth form in his debut season justified the recruiting team’s rationale in forfeiting a major part of their 2025 draft hand to acquire him. It was a big win for the club.

Date of Birth: 3 August 2006

Impressive as he had some foot problems. Xavier has only just turned 19.

Absolute gun.

Would love to see him get more of an inside role next year.

You can build a solid midfield around both he and Langford.

XL certainly looks the goods, fast, skilled and tough just the right mix of player that we need going through the middle. Get super fit young man we have high hopes for you.

I don’t know what it is about him but he reminds me so much of Gus, hope he can have even half the career he did.

There is a bit about Gus to Linsday i agree.

I liken Lindsay to a Hugh McLuggage with his ability to play inside and out. Early days McLuggage was also a winger before he went inside, so I see similarities to that.

I can see that too, between him Langford, koz and riv I’m not stressed about what our midfield looks like in 4-5 years time.

Has talent but was poorly managed this year. Was struggling mid year & should have been sent to Casey to work on a few things.

I'd suggest a half back role for Lindsay. I don't think he has the frame to be a consistent inside player, but what do I know.

Looked an absolute gun in the early season. Struggled to run out the season. Another pre-season will do him wonders. His ball-use is elite so need to harness that weapon.

You never know. Look at Dangerfield or Fyfe's frame in their draft year.

Shrewd trade and pick by us.

Looks very good. Like his balance and skills. Got heaps of development in him too which is pleasing.

2 more players like Lindsay and Langford from the draft this year please!

Would definitely have him at half back next year, would allow him time to build his strength and frame to be a future mid
