Our communications team are surely the worst in the comp.

I do wonder if back on that day in Sep 21 as a switch got flipped and the Dees midfield kicked into "blitzkrieg" mode , whether the ( then ) Doggies midfield assistant pondered... what we couldn't do with a few guys like that.

Well, show us 😉

Very impressive interview by Guerra.

It sure was Dazzle... I could not be one iota more impressed than I have been by ALL his media appearances thus far... clearly a quality person and as even David King and Corn said earlier, we got a good one there!

Was about to ask same thing... toey to see the King!!!

If you score over 100 points each week you’re going to win 95% of the matches you play

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me 🤣

There was...this conference was less than half an hour ago. I was watching some live on Foxtel's Sports News channel

Will his family be re-locating or staying on the GC?

Poor McClure he's been wrong so many times it's now becoming boring he's trying to make stuff up to deflect the [censored] he has been saying.

McClure's clearly embarrassed he got the Buckley prediction wrong and so he's trying to blame other factors. He just can't admit he got it wrong. What an ego!

From the Guerra SEN interview:

“We loved his articulation of the game plan, particularly the contemporary side of it. We love how he’s using technology to inform that as well.

I would say Nathan would have been a long way behind on the use of technology. 4-5 years out of the game is an eternity in use of technology, in any field.

Especially as Nathan had said on OTC that game plan wasn't that important.

Marginal is a good description. A player with a niggling foot injury goes from just getting the ball and handballing while tackled to instead being the opposition watching the opponent's handball get away. A player not realising he has an extra half-second is more likely to fumble or stuff up his disposal. A hail Mary kicked from the boundary that scrapes the goalpost is demoralising , reminding the team of an aberrant inside 50, is very different to an accurate one that wows everyone in the replays and changesmomentum.

Of course current words guarantee nothing but if individual players and the team dynamic can improve with renewed confidence alone that might see us shoot up the ladder way more than expected.

Wow he's impressive.

I think the fact this entire thread isn't people upset we didn't get Nathan Buckley or someone else is a real reflection on how impressive he has presented so far.

I don't think many people would have even had Steven King top 3 a week and a half ago, but now it seems everyone is really pleased so he's impressed a lot of people which is great!

Shame we now have to wait for months to see the team play again

The description of how he wants to play is super encouraging.

Riskier and fast ball movement from the back half allowing our forwards to play with space!

Early days, but we may be watchable again!

I haven't watched much OTC this year but could be half-right? A team like Essendon racked with injuries is still gonna struggle with a great plan and the most talented list with a similar plan will beat them.

Very excited by Kingy.

Interesting titbit around Selwyn.

I wonder if we'll bring anyone else into the fitness team. It doesn't sort of sound like it, but who knows.

There is a lot to like about the new coach. He articulates better than his predecessor and appears to have a great handle on all the modern tools a coach needs in this day and age. A few close friends who have worked with him have high praise for him and think MFC have made an outstanding choice. Wants to make the workplace fun and doesn'r mind driving to Casey. He wants the players to express some flair and skill. He plans to implemenmt a contemporary game style.

I thought the questioning around long bombs was pretty disrespectful, and the lack of reflection on the fact we are a quick transition team already.

But I think what Kingy emphasised, which was good, is how you set the ground up to move the ball quickly.

And I think in this respect, that's the strongest hint he's got good IP around how to do that. And coming from the transition specialists in Geelong, he'd have great IP on this. Not to mention his time at the Bulldogs in terms of offensive power.

In that regard, I hope we keep Chaplin and use him as defensive coach again, but time will tell.

Spoke very well. I am impressed I think he is just what we need judging by his outlook of how the game should be played. Handled all questions with honesty and very natural.

Looks like some positive news on Caulfield incoming as well so onwards and upwards DEES

yep just need to make sure we have the ball in the right players hands to execute , we are pretty light on for skilful clever ball users which is what the modern game requires . Look at the 4 teams left in it

I think we have enough, we just weren't optimizing the right ball handlers and trusting them to have freedom as King referenced. McVee, Salem, Windsor (perfect example of a guy whose been hurt by lack of freedom), Rivers, Kos, Flanders (wink), Langford, Lindsay, Fritta... we just need a gameplan that ensures we get the ball to them more often, ala Brisbane do to get ball to Zorko, Bailey etc as they run through middle...

The best line ever when asked what he would do if offered the job after saying how proud he was, blah blah and mentioning the wife, he says, " I am the coach that this club needs"

IMO opinion that is the best response imaginable.

How bloody good... Caulfield here we come it seems!!! Absolutely changes the game for us on SO MANY fronts.

Good communicator. Interesting that Selwyn is here to stay at this stage. Very encouraging chat about the game plan.

Like someone said earlier though, fast ball movement to get the ball on the forward line whilst it isn't so crowded is all well and good but it all depends on who takes that last kick into the 50. If it's Trac or Clarry then the chances of it being to the forwards advantage are less than stellar and leaves the forward with a battle to get the ball. JVR and Co will need to hit the gym with ferocity if they are going to be left to battle one on one against key defenders.

Time will tell though and I'm feeling good about MFC for the first time in a while.....feels weird.

This is true, but its also about the run and carry and general aggressive flow we can get going.

Kicks don't need to be as pin point accurate when the player you kicking to has free air to work with and space to get off there man.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
