You're almost there, Froggy! What is about their numbers that unites the 22 players?

(We need to move this on because there's an important game on TV tonight that I want to watch. Go Storm!)

Is the Storm comment a clue?

No, but the jumper numbers certainly is.

Wearing? They all wore Lynx body spray?

I don't care about prizes. I'm guessing each player played the most games in a particular numbered jumper.

I'm feeling in a retro mood this morning so here's a resurrection of my risible timewasters for those who wish to accept the challenge.

Below is a team of contemporary Melbourne players in position. It's a great team with a forward line we'd love to have out there nowadays.

What is the common link between the 22?

As ever, answers in a PM only please.

Prizes shall be awarded for the first three correct answers.

==============================================================

B: Matthew Whelan Sean Wight Neville Jetta

H/B: Angus Brayshaw Jared Rivers Brett Lovett

C: Travis Johnstone Christian Petracca Stephen Tingay

H/F: Adem Yze Garry Lyon Aaron Davey

F: Russell Robertson David Neitz Brad Green

R: Jeff White Todd Viney Nathan Jones

I/C: Jim Stynes Alex Neal-Bullen Cameron Bruce James McDonald

Way to spoil the quiz. Well done.

Well i thought it was a great quiz - I'd never have gotten it. Thanks, and well done D. Look forward to many more (unspoiled) quizzes.

No, you forfeit your victory for being a blurter!

Ok. I was never after a victory. I didn't see it was secret.

Yes, silly bugger Demonstone should’ve made it clearer 😜

Oy! Honestly somehow I missed that. I could have guessed what PM means but I've only ever seen DM used and over 20 something years on forums and Facebook I've only ever seen the quizmaster ask for the answer in the comments.

Anyway I'm quite tired today. If the Blurter Police want to squirt me so be it.

BTW not to be confused with a demons wikia I bet some on here would love to have good look around Demonwiki.org

First offence so just a caution on this occasion. Subsequent offences will see you in the firing line (10 Demonlanders brandishing fire hoses) 😉

LOL that you actually capitalised Blurter Police as though a proper noun 😂

They are a department of the Crack Squad.

I had a couple of hours on it yesterday. Didnt get close.

Keep them coming please D Stone.

Im sure, like me, plenty on here enjoy them

It did my head in looking back to investigate the theory that all these players won their first final.

Poor Matty Whelan missed 2000 and 02 die to late season injury, then copped the 2004 elimination final robbery by Essendon and the awful cats elimination final in 2005.

Finally got a win against the Saints in 2006, but was injured during the game and missed the semifinal.

Matty Whelan is many good things; tough, smart, handsome, skilled and charismatic. But he is definitely not lucky!

He’s also an unsung hero. Our indigenous players, or as he calls them “brother boys” are indebted to him for being their “mouthpiece.” Kozzie says whenever they have even the smallest issue and they’re not comfortable approaching the club (which is more often than not), Matty is the go-between. He’s a significant part of the reason Kozzie will never leave our club. He also tends to their families: facilitating trips to Melb etc. He works diligently, mostly in the background.

Is Matty Whelan a full-time employee of the club?

He is. His official role is Indigenous Player Development Manager (IPDM). In early 2021 the AFL mandated the appointment of an IPDM at every club. But we appointed Matty in this role in 2017 by choice, ie. before it became compulsory. And it’s a successful and valuable appointment and will continue to be since he’s a godsend for our indigenous boys.
