Everything in hearing says the saints will be nominated by Flanders in the coming days. I don’t think we presented badly, they’re just splashing money we weren’t prepared to match perhaps.

One of those things Daz, i am sure if we matched the deal we could have still signed him, but i am pleased the club didn't want to overpay for someone for the sake of a signing, like the Saints have with their entire offseason.

it will all come down to who can offer him the most midfield minutes. A lack of midfield time is why he is looking to leave the next dynasty in the Suns

I'm not a massive fab of Lamb, but trying to make players nominating other clubs his fault too is a stretch.
Is TDK also his fault? What about Worpel, or Draper, or Oscar Allen?

Of course what another club is offering isn’t Lamb’s fault, but at the same time he and the FD have been offering too expensive/long contracts for years now

For example, extending May by a year on $800,000 a year is potentially limiting what we can offer Flanders, and the irony is we don’t even want him at the club next year

The Oliver and Petracca contracts are also going to be a millstone around our necks for years if they’re not traded - again, money we won’t have to bring in players like Flanders

And maybe it’s petty and maybe it’s irrational, but it’s pisses me off that he and the FD can’t seem to put together a compelling argument to join the MFC over a cellar dweller club like St Kilda

The difference in this case is we expressed interest in Flanders and from all reports have/will meet with him

We weren’t linked to any of the others, except for a tenuous link to Worpel earlier in the year

The fact is when we’ve wanted a player over the last few years, we’ve seldom got them

Yep agreed some of our $ list decisions have been a bit self-defeating in the long run, its left Lamb boxing with one arm tied behind his back in terms of trying to bring in talent.

I somewhat agree.

But we aren’t going to bed able to rebuild with no new players. We might have to bite the bullet on some.

The incoming cohort aren’t really flashy by any stretch leaving us with the same look, same average output and probably bottom 6 again.

I significantly hope I am wrong but I am concerned with the changes or lack thereof.

I do trust Kingy, and I believe he will bring a really fresh outlook.

My concern lies with the players list, they have proven that they are very average ball users and are becoming complacent.

Just adding in, I would also be happy to see us pay overs for a couple good players, just keep them to short contracts with trigger clause to extend. It gets the fans in, gets excitement up and belief in the team.

We can't even get a surplus to needs mid/hb whose former coach now is our head coach to nominate us whilst clubs like Brisbane, Geelong’s and now GC and even Stkilda (ffs) are becoming the new darling clubs everyone wants to be at.

How quickly we've become irrelevant again so soon after a flag too!

Totally irrelevant.

I don’t think we are a poor club but if we are being outbid by St Kilda on Flanders who they just spent a BOAT load on three players, we are doomed. We need to use our heads, spend some coin on GOOD players and not duds to fill the list.

I’d be shocked at this point if we come close to 12th. I predict we will sit around 15th.

If we get some decent picks, we might go alright.

If they don’t make good changes and we have the same average team, with Petty forward etc etc I predict we also drop in membership for another year running.

Flanders hasn't even met the club yet. Maybe just relax and let it play out a bit longer.
