that game epitomises ND's coaching reign

That was exactly what we have been getting year in year out, game by game, quarter by quarter since Daniher has been coaching us. Inconsistency personified, todays game was proof to why ND had to go. They were rubbish at the start then came good but failed at the end, we should be used to the rubbish being served up but its just too heartbreaking to get used to. He's a nice bloke and we like him but we're better off now he's gone.

I have to agree.

I wanted a win, but in the end, it was so close yet so far away... a very ironic way to lose a match and a perfect summary of Daniher's time at Melbourne.

We are so inconsistent, we are up then we're down, then we're up again. We go missing for quarters, halves, games, months, years... Players come in and out of games but don't apply themselves for four quarters.

I hope like nothing else that a new coach will bring about a positive change, but with that, I'm really upset at the lack of intensity we showed in the first quarter. Daniher deserved better, but then, he's probably used to the disappointment.

Very emotional scenes after the game, and quite clearly the players loved and respected him.

*Sigh*, this club is anything but boring.

One of the few good calls I've read.

Nathan Brown giving away the free-kick and Daniher flooding the opposition defense, allowing Essendon to get the ball easily into their forward line said a fair bit too.

honestly how the [censored] did we lose that game! 17 points up with 5 minutes to play. rediculous!!! bloody hell!

im caught abit in two minds...on one hand we'v lost 4 games this year by under a goal. we'v been ravanged by injuries. its clearly just not been our season. the loss doesnt really make a difference, and it could mean we get a priority pick which would be extremely useful at years end...

on the other hand we need to develop a winning culture. we need respect and the supporters need something to hang our hats on to give us hope. its just so frustrating.

COBRING ON KRUISER

If we were playing for a popularity contest premiership flag, Neil Daniher & his Deeciples would be taking the flag home year after year. It would be a no contest.

Would a 'Barassi' be so grieved over, or Matthews, Blight, Worsfold, Norm Smith, Kennedy, Jeans, Parkin, Malthouse, Pagan? All premiership coaches, why are they not so warmly loved as Neale Daniher?

There were classic instances of what was good about Melbourne tonight...but unfortunately there were proably more of whats bad.

As mentioned...giving away starts... seems to be our badge ( shakes head in dismay !!)

Playing tempo footy at 1) the wrong times & 2) without the accuracy and thinking to be able to do it !!

Passing at imes is just woeful... why do you sky a ball to pass it to supposedly advantage, resulting in a needles contest ?

and speakig of contests...its all well and good to kick to an advantageous contest.. but what sense when kicking to an outnumbered position ?? I just dont get it !!

We really seem to too often whilst attempting to switch play back to the corridor do it so horrendously that we might have as well walked up and handed it to the opposition.

Too often it was a cakewalk for essendon bringing the ball back in.. thats really poor awareness.

i'm as gutted as anyone, but if you look bigger picture, there's no point in statements like '17 points up 5 minutes to play.' don't forget it was only 11 with 4 minutes to play in a game that saw 37 goals, hardly game over. further, i doubt many people looked at the 05 dogs game and thought anything far past us winning. perhaps a little sympathy, but not much more.

it is truly heartbreaking, but don't forget essendon's luck in close games last year compared with this year. i honestly think that when luck is against you, it really is. obviously there are physical aspects of why we lost, but i guess footy sucks sometimes...

think i'm just trying to cheer myself up though

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
