He's not alone. Chandler one of the worst offenders here also.

Chandler was also on his own in the middle just off the square during one of McVee's kick ins late in the third.

Instead of leading and calling for the over the top kick into the middle he points and heads straight out to the skinny side where the ball ends up on top of everyone's heads and turns into a 50/50 at ground level.

Luckily Culley ends up with it and runs / handballs our way out of congestion which i think Chin ends up on the end of it giving it to Melk who gets the joe-the-goose goal to Tracc.

Chin is a handy player but alot of his good work is undone by his poor decision making / lack of composure / awareness on occasions.

That's not to say Chin never lowers his vision or hits targets but he should be doing alot less of the bombing / lack of awareness things now given his experience.

Unfortunately they're still happening though and in some cases, costing us opportunities in transition where we have advantage in play and should be punishimg the oppo more often.

I wonder too if the habit of leading through the centre square has been drilled out of them. I.e. why bother calling for it in the middle.

We are a predictable hug the boundary line team as we leave defence almost always.

The only time we went hard and fast was off turnovers off half back which was great to see.

Apart from using turnover opportunities, we just don't seem to use the centre corridor much at all.

Looking forward to a new coaching group

Totally unnecessary; unproductive and puerile. If you can’t come back with a valid counter-argument, maybe don’t say anything at all.

Geez it’s tough for you now that Goody’s gone. Who’re you gonna relentlessly bag? Oh that’s right: you can continue to bag him anyways, I’m sure there’s no statute of limitations. You and your little mini-me Hopeful Demon can go nuts!

I thought the Dogs top 10 players were really good but then their team tapers off really quick. Probably why they are outside the 8.

Dees overall is a better team but lacks top end class, especially in front of goals.

If Nauts was in a Dees jumper.....

All good, F&T. Luker already is 😉

I think it was definitely time for Goodwin to leave, but on Sunday I shook my head when we chipped it around the half forward line at the Punt Road end and then, after what seemed like a all-too-slow build up that would inevitably end with a high kick to the hot spot, we found van Rooyen on the lead with a 23 to 30 metre bullet.

As far as I understand it, that's exactly what Goodwin was aiming for as he "transitioned" to a new game style (and when the fast break wasn't on). But it happened all too infrequently.

Happy to reiterate for those who don’t understand football and energetics

Kade Chandler [censored] blocks our flow, and

Here’s why:

  1. He plays with an insecurity that he masks by overgesticulating, applauding other players, pointing and remonstrating, and keeping a ‘hopeful’ look about him.

  2. His insecurity shows up in these ways and more: hesitant to move the move on once he marks it (last qtr should have gone to petty on the wing. Hesitated and then petty made the same lead but with less space and the mark was spoiled), overruns footy and/or opponent consistently making himself a desperate scrambly ‘looking’ player but with very meagre effect.

  3. He is a limited player. You might think he has upside, but the truth is he will only ever get so far. He will have 4 decent games a year and they will be always a result of having a [censored] one the week before - which is old melbourne standards - rather than being consistently contributory on a level of substantial significance within game.

  4. Why be so Kade Chandler positive (like EVERYONE in the demon community). I understand he’s cute and has a nice smile and you think he’s contributing to vibe, but actually he makes our grand purpose less sincere and less potent. He dulls our will to will with his paraded perkiness. He tries to be an energiser bunny because his footy is Carlton b grader standard. We have enough energiser bunnies with our youth.

  5. demon fans need to realise what is holding us back so we can move forward, and a better more consistent player in Kade chandler’s position would do wonders for our success

  6. It’s no shade on Kade. It’s just : trade out players like that, and bring in non-insecure beasts like Dylan Moore , Shawn mannagh or whatever his name is. Some real solid smart no frills half forwards who actually [censored] impact.

  7. I know that dees fans will hate this and that’s because they are largely [censored]

If Naughts were in a Dees jumper, maybe his kicking for goal wouldn't have improved at the same rate, but good on him for fixing that part of his game.

Also, Dee's ball movement has gone from bottom 4 to top 4 in last 5 weeks. We were in the process of evolving, the game against the Bulldogs was an extension of that progress, not a drastic change from what Goody and the team had embarked on:

I don't need to bag anyone. Possibly the problem with your thinking.

If something is good, its good and that is commendable.

If its bad, untenable etc it can be so ascribed ... no ?

Atm i feel optimistic. Things will change. There was even a little in the weekend. That was good. Not quite a good win (😉) but a better display.

I hope Chappy sticks around .

Am I allowed to suggest Traccs first half was rubbish but his second wasn't ?

Am I allowed to think the FD really needs to reinvent (if can ) Viney or he's in danger of becoming a liability. .. but surely his positivity can be better used somewhere?

I can admire the footy of Langford.. thought Culley showed promise. Some might bag Adams but truth be told he'd (Naughts) have still kicked 3 or 4 on May as having a day out... so Jed not disgraced first day out. Probably learnt a bit.

Thought we still owe TMac due credit, but will that translate to next year ?

Salem getting back a bit of his better game ( needed to )

Disco was really good ( except for that brain fart.. could see the idea.. shame about result )

Kozzy had a mixed day and I would be wondering why he was again on the bench in the last when 2 opportunities were left begging 🤷‍♂️

So its not me who's all negative Nancy Ghosty.. it might just be you if I or someone else doesn't share your views.

Enjoy the rest of your day 👍

Lol 'go nuts.' Mate, yesterday was the most fun I had at the football in a long time and I am super excited for what the next two weeks hold.

As for 'bagging' Goodwin, I have not once made any personal comments about him at all. My recent criticisms towards him were to do with his coaching and methods. That should be totally acceptable on a public forum. Not to mention that in the past I have also acknowledged the good work he has done and I have stuck up for numerous players when I felt like they were unfairly attacked.

I find it funny how you always lecture people on how to behave yet you can be just as personal and antagonistic as anyone else.

I thought we’d lose by 40. And going by expected score we should have. We kicked straight yesterday. And Kade Chandler waves the flag at the front of the ‘jovial group of losers’ parade

What?

On expected score we should have lost by 12 points.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
