Smith will be fantastic. Accomplished lawyer, seriously good (200-games) player in his day, totally committed Demon who is routinely at the G (except for this year obviously) with a strong network and MCC links where he was on the committee for close to 20 years and a proven chairman (MCC four years ).

We couldn't have a better incoming president right now. Hopefully the same is true of Paul Guera.

We need him six months ago pitmaster. He is standing on the wharf but the ship has sailed and sunk.

Smith is 70 and saw no urgency to start the job. Guerra , ive heard many times on radio, unimpressive. Motherhood statements . Sounds just like Pert, get the club a home base , success for womens team to appease AFL. Go back and see his first interview.

West Coast to officially request draft assistance....

Pyke will meet with new AFL football executive Greg Swann this week when the Eagles fly to Melbourne to play the Demons.

While it is highly unlikely the AFL would consider a compensation draft pick at No.2, West Coast will argue for a range of options to be considered for assistance, including but not limited to: An extra draft pick early in the draft; draft picks the club has to trade; more places on the list; extra rookie list places; extra category B list places and the ability to retain players on the category B list for longer.

IMO we will thump them and Goody in his presser + Max on the socials/MMM will discuss how important it was to "respond", "get back on track", and "do something to make our supporters proud again".

We've seen it before with easybeats, most recently the Roos.

Thankfully WCE are so bad that the media is unlikely to give them the usual amounts of grace.

To be clear, I love Max Gawn, but I was incredibly disappointed with the way he tried to palm off the last quarter on MMM by cracking jokes and talking about "momentum".

Sorry to ask this 48 but what is the statement “success for the women’s team to appease the AFL” mean?

This. He’s been “Melbourned” ( a phrase from a previous dark era ). And we run the risk of doing the same to McVee, Langford, and XL.

Change needs to happen before we kill off the rebuild.

Every time Langford is interviewed post game by the media team, he talks about "working on our defence". The groupthink is insane.

Last year Windsor look like hed play 15 years as a wingman. Goodwin put paid to that.

It was terrific seeing him start at the centre bounce for the first few goals the other day. Finally a bit of faith in the kid. He wasn't a superstar in a position he rarely plays, and he was subbed for perhaps the least effectual sub on the list in Spargo. They are absolutely butchering his confidence in real time, and for what? These are dead rubbers, but Goody just has to get minutes into his old favourites come what may while talking rubbish about "being a team in transition".

Feel very sorry for Windsor this year

When Windsor played in the centre on Waganeen Mileria we dominated. When he was subbed off we crumbled

Why counter speed with speed when you have the best starting centre square combination in the league!*

Think the AFL just need to make reference to the Kelly trade and close the door promptly.

If the AFL gives West Coast a single hand out I’m done.

Richest club in the AFL with a flag in the last decade.

They made their bed.

What a total joke.

Self explanatory. MFC future is about the success of the Mens team.

So ZERO changes then, Stawell Gift candidate Spargy, gets another gig, that goal kicking machine Harry Petty Ditto Aaannnnd JVR gets to run under another dozen balls totally misjudging trajectory. Viney the rugby player still gets a gig,Judd Mc Vee who wants out gets a gig and poor old Windsor hotel still wondering why he has been moved from the wing this year!! WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG!

Put Petty in the backline ffs

Send him to the VFL. Bring up someone and give them a crack. Petty is proven weak forward or back.

Ok I have it now. The girls competition is a joke. The money the AFL is wasting on it is beyond scandalous. Their usual virtue signalling.

Pf you need to add using JVR as a second ruckman is destroying his development. He has gone backwards since his first year.

The way WC draft, they could have 5 first round picks and still have no stars.

They have been on the bottom for 5 years and only have Harley Reid to show for it

Hopefully they keep their list manager

Yeah, i get yours too.

I couldnt give a damm about having a womens team when we dont even have a home base. Nor does 90 per cent of our supporters - fact, based on game attendances .

We will lose next week, our senior players have given up. Don't we have a CEO or President that has the balls to sack Goody and company? One flag in 57 years speaks volume as for the type of club that we are. If we are such a s.it side we have to drop several players next week why is Goody afraid of , his reputation is already ruined. I am sick to death of this club , no longer can i be a member of this garbage. Goody received a death threat probably one of his mates , Goody want us to feel sorry for him.

Junk, you win out of all the discourteous comments that I have read on hear this past week yours is the best,

Correct the AFLW Competition is a nothing competition, no matter how the AFL wants to market it! Another AFL WHITE ELEPHANT!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
