i always forget that dandenong stingrays are listed as 'vic country' these days

will be interesting to see whether toby sinnema and marcus prasad are part of that squad

the latest reports on both on rookiemecentral are super positive:

prasad sounds like a sort of spargo / watson type of smart player, while sinnema is a bit more of a lindsay type perhaps?

Prasad sounds promising given we're crying out for another dynamic small forward, hopefully he continues to develop his skills into his draft year

i was wondering whether our 2026 nga prospect marcus prasad might make it as an underager, but i guess not

Willem Duursma could potentially be a destructive defender for the Dees to target. Would be a great pick and could allow Windsor to play more midfield minutes.

Interested again in some value picks. I think as always that there’s quality through the draft even in the 25-40 range and even this year with all the compromises pre-academy and father son picks.

Early call out for value in the 30+ pick range. Watch for Hunter Wright from the Bendigo Pioneers. Not ranked at this time in the top 30 but he’s quality. Skilled left footed mid. Plays like Josh Kelly or Scott Pendlebury prototype. Good inside as well as outside player. Like to see how he goes for Vic Country.

I have a Wright in mind as well - not Hunter Wright but Rory Wright of (who else) the Sandringham Dragons who is a classy left-footer and an excellent decision maker. I haven’t seen a great deal of him other than a bit of vision from the Coates Talent League but my spies tell me they’re confident that come November, he is likely to be well in contention for a first round draft pick.

The championships kick off tomorrow in Blacktown with the Allies, who many consider to be the favourite to take out the competition, playing host to South Australia.

With Melbourne holding no early draft picks at this stage, most attention will focus on 199cm tall Kalani White, son of former Demon ruckman Jeff White who is expected to play a key defensive role for the Allies.

When we snare the flag and then grab Sinnema and White there’s no reason we shouldn’t be aiming for back to back

Absolutely good call @Whispering_Jack I saw him earlier in the year for Dragons v Giants underagers and he stood out. Rory Wright is the classic left footed midfielder. Has good size and I like his skills & 2nd efforts. Definitely rising up draft boards (Ironically both Hunter Wright and Rory Wright are number 9 for their teams)

Kalani named on the bench for the Allies vs SA game tomorrow.

Game stars at 12.00 and I believe will be streamed live on the AFL app/website for those that might want to get a look at our potential f/s pick prior to the Saints game.

SA does it best, SA 12.10 83 defeat the Allies 10.10 70, Kalani with 5 disposals 0.1 and 2 hit-outs, mainly playing fwd/second ruck role, the main ruck and him look exactly the same, hard to tell which is which

Yep, Duursma’s aren’t known for their toughness/aggression. Skills pretty good though.

Definitely a surprise result in the opening game of the championships and not a great result for our Kalani who was limited to five possessions.

I see young Van Rooyen is in the best players for WA. He’s the VR I believe we should chase.j
