Flush run at Gosch’s starting soon but just wanna post this week’s schedule lest I forget.

Tomorrow and Thursday - main training at Casey. I don’t know start times because they’re closed sessions.

The players fly to Brisbane on Friday evening. Captain’s run on Saturday (details to be announced).

Melks all good for this weekend.

He was an out last week (“managed”). I still don’t know why that was so but I’m glad he’s available this week. 🥳

Another beautiful day. The players, appeared in reasonable spirits and light-hearted (some having fun), given the win/loss ratio we have, about 31 on the paddock.

Woewodin worked with a trainer doing those change of direction runs, in rehab. Hore still in rehab as well.

Lever out there in runners, though with the squad.

Melky trained as well, and in runners.

They had a structured warm-up, stretching and short runs. A soccer game followed, 15 on 15, most of them didn't touch the ball or do much running. Plenty of squeals when a goal was attempted.

They broke for goal kicking practice. Most of them kicking within the 45° angle area and 35 m out. Later, a few moved to the boundary shot. Turner broke out in joy and an exaggerated 50m run, he must have hit an important one through the sticks from the boundary when the others challenged him.

Kentfield working hard, drilling with a trainer.

Tracc practiced goal kicking for the entire session.

Melky and Gawn first to leave.

Does that mean their main training is on Thursday which is 3 days out instead of the normal 2 days before?

Yeah I was just talking with a former property steward who told me the website is showing the main session is on Friday at Gosch’s. This makes sense because it’s two days before match day and it’s at Gosch’s because they flight out on Friday arvo.

I was told this morning by the head property guy that the main session is at Casey on Thursday. But he was going by memory and didn’t look up the schedule on his phone like he usually does.

This is possibly not correct. The website is listing the main session as being on Friday at Gosch’s which is likely the correct info.

Whilst acknowledging the Club's well publicised "individual training programmes" there were quite a few absentees today:

May, Viney, Billings, T Mac, Petty, Kosi, Chandler, Mentha, Johnson and Henderson

As Kev mentioned, Hore and Woey were rehabbing. Lever did not take part in the soccer but did the other running and he announced on the weekend that his recovery had been relatively quick and he will play at least two quarters at Casey this Saturday (v Southport at Casey) and should be available for the Sydney match.

Hopefully Melksham and Petty available this week (Viney needs at least one more week).

When I rode my bike past Gosch’s Paddock this morning at about 8.30 there were about a dozen or so women with 2 or 3 coaches/trainers, training on the ground in MFC gear. I take it our AFLW squad has started preseason? No soccer balls evident either.

If he was technically good to go against the Hawks, I have no idea why he was "managed" for a season defining game when we had soldiers already down in Petty and Viney.

We certainly do not have the luxury or have earned the wins in the bank to start resting players. If necessary, they could have rested him for a probable road trip loss to Brisbane and have him fit and fresh for a winnable game against Sydney the following week.

Melky had a tight hammy last week. He will be available.

Rick Lever will play 2.5 quarters for Casey this week. He did 10km at training on Saturday morning, but does not want to rush back into the ones.

That's extremely pleasing news.

Just assumed he'd be back around King's b'day or thereabouts.

A few women were doing an optional session with Mick Stinear, after the men finished on Gosch's this afternoon:

Present were: Paxy, Loz Pearce, Eden Z, Olivia P, Fitzy, Georgia Campbell, Georgie Gall, Tahlia Gillard, Ryleigh Wotherspoon (may have missed one or two).

Official training begins next week, with a couple of sessions at Gosch's and one at Casey: per week.

The girls started their preseason today. However, most of them have been turning up to Gosch’s on the men’s training days and using the oval before the boys come out, or afterwards, depending on time of day.

Thanks HW, but I chatted to some of the girls on Saturday before the match and they said preseason starts today.

Some others are also in that situation. T m cause M aysie Maxxy co m e to m ind.

Not officially Ghosty, but don't tell the Union. My source is impeccable - see you Friday!

Not if I see you first 😝

Another big thanks to Ghostwriter, Kev Martin, Harvey Wallbanger and all posters for the training reports and training schedule updates. Looking forward to Thursdays reports from Gosh’s, hopefully no extra injuries to the boys.

How do you know he was rested?

And even if he was I would think him in the team every second week is better than not at all.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
