Was initially underwhelmed by Garry, not that I missed Robbo, but felt he has found a tempo. But several of the segments have definitely added value. Razor's edge should have been done 20 years ago, as annoying as he is, he can explain a decision and I love the way Garry pushes yet is prepared to concede when a point is well made. Simmo and Horse are just gold and you can tell Gerald is wetting himself with the content. (and just quietly they show King up regularly, would much rather here what Simmo/Horse has to say), because they are not having a bet each way. They tell you what you gain for a move and what you lose.

That said First Crack, which after Tom was given the flick improved out of sight is awful when Jay is on, click baiting lines straight out of the mid week tackle rubbish (I only watched once as it was a News.com circle [censored]),

That The Front Bar is still more watchable than all the 'serious' 7&9 swill is an indictment of TV production today. And the FB frequently misses as well but at least no one is taking themselves too seriously.

Sorry random thoughts as I trawl media for stuff on the Dees

First Crack has definitely taken a nose dive. I understand that we’ve beaten the two worst teams in unconvincing fashion, but literally the only analysis they’ve provided in the last two weeks is that Max Gawn is a good player, and maybe given us 40 seconds total. Seems like they have pacing issues but come on.

There's little point discussing Melb v WC, Ess v North and such games. We get our fair share of analysis when we play in good contests. Welcome to being ordinary, it sucks doesn't it? If we beat Hawthorn they'll talk about us.

  • Demonland changed the title to AFL 360 & First Crack

Wonder if Gary will give Max the 3 votes in his MVP for the round?

He's given the 3 to Toby Greene and Matt Rowell in games against us, as well as minor votes to Xerri and Danger in rounds 2 and 4. Maybe over compensating with this MFC hat on.

TBh I thought this segment would be horrible but its been good, even if I dont agree with the AFl/Umpires stance you find out why they call it and when it happens again you then realise why.

WC or not, it was Max's best performance from a stats perspective of his career. If he doesn't get the 3, then Gary - as he is known to do - is taking the anti-MFC supporter thing too far. Gawny is deserving. 22 contested possessions, 9 clearances and 1 goal is not an easy feat. Dangerfield will get 2 and Merrett will get 1.

I get that, but one thing First Crack was really reliable with in previous years was dedicating time to every game that was played. Sure, the [censored] teams would be wedged in at the end, but they still got covered. They can do better than telling us Max Gawn is a good player then cutting to an ad break two weeks in a row.

Complaining about the quality of footy shows......there's a word for such things but i can't think it atm.

You mentioned my two favourite segments on 360: Razor and Simmo & Horse. I love Razor’s input because it’s the closest we’ll ever get to an explanation of some of the questionable decisions. As for Simmo and Horse, who knew they were so entertaining?! They’re funny and sharp and work well together.

Not maybe… definitely. He does it all the time to varying degrees. It’s super disappointing

As expected, Gary does Gary things by choosing to excessively be anti-Melbourne and give Danger the 3 votes. i suspect it had to do with the quality of the opposition.

I’m a big Razor fan. He was always fair as an umpire. Sure, he loved the attention and being in the spotlight but his adjudication was second to none. I wish more umpires were like him.

Better than Nicholls that is for sure.

Unwatchable.

I don't watch any of them.

And old mate Williamson (#2). Although I suspect he’s had a talking to because the last couple of our games at which he’s officiated he’s been uncharacteristically less harsh on us.

Not feeling 360 without Robbo. The loveable buffoon made that show.

Gaz has made the show watchable for me once again. I know he’ll go hard at the Dees if we are going [censored] but at least I know that comes from a - wait for it- place of love.

I also get the sense that he won’t put up with any [censored] directed at the club either.

Yes he tends to go a bit overboard trying to play the ‘I’m not just saying this as a MFC supporter’. Maybe he should join the circus and start peddling MFC propaganda content to further our cause.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
