Fantastic presser from TMac:

Media Conference | Tom McDonald

TMac speaks so well. I’d love someone to ask him to talk about what it’s like at footy clubs during periods of success, compared to when they’re really struggling. There aren’t many players who have really traversed the ladder up and down to the extent he has. In his 100th game, he had a 26-74 W-L record. By game 193 he had a flag under his belt.

Get him on the pod @Demonland !

Fritsch, was disinterested and lazy last week and he gets a call up???? PARK ME club is rewarding mediocrity NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Uninterested maybe. Not disinterested as I am sure he is happy to be on the payroll at least

Possibly my favourite player of all time. He reminds me a lot of myself, just taller and with more athletic ability. That probably comes of as self-absorbed (my favourite player is the one most like me). Oh well, we like who we like!

With Melksham being managed not ommitted who do you suggest be promoted in the role that Melksham plays or should I take a guess? No forward looked worth anything at Casey last week based on what I saw but a role needs to be filled and the Fritsch will know if he does not perform he will be back out with Melksham back the following week. He should be given a defensive job on Vlaustin and be purely assessed against his ability to execute it.

You know the answer to this question, The love child, Satan was mentioned however seemed to be torn with himself

If Fritsch kicks a few great, however I want to see him tackle, shepherd, lead and chase with intensity and follow up efforts. No token throwing out 1 arm. Ball or body at any contested situation he is presented with tomorrow night

Can't argue with the team selection , which has produced the best possible lineup from available players.

I just hope Fritsch can regain his kicking confidence with an early goal or two.

Although I am not a Howes fan, I can't help feeling he is a bit unlucky that McVee is ready to return this week.

He put in a better showing against Fremantle than I had expected.

As good a team as could be selected with the available players.

I will be watching as usual but this week it starts at 11.30am my time. A glass of wine at half time as an aperitivo. Followed by lunch after the game.

I would have selected a little differently by retaining Howes and dropping Sharp. I just think that would have given us a bit more flexibility with some of the positional rotations.

Bring last week's game and we run out easy winners. Slide back into earlier habits and we get done.

I hope the coaching team bring last week's style of planning as well.

Pressure, pressure and more pressure and a defined task for Viney.

Go Dees!

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.
