What gets you excited about the club?

Featured Replies

I don't think I've been truly excited about the club since I was a kid and used to to get to the ground for 11am and watch the ground slowly fill up whilst watching the ressies. I do enjoy the anticipation of a new season though when the days get shorter, the leaves start to change colour and cricket pitches around the city get replaced with goalposts.

Living in Thailand, tomorrows game will be over by 1.30pm here.

So if we have a surprise win, that will excite me or we play like our form has dictated thus far and get belted again.

Then I venture into town to drown my sorrows and forget about the footy for the final day of Songkran (Thai New Year) with all the associated water shenanigans going on about the place.

… a debut. A debut of anyone in red and blue, regardless of who he/she is. In this case it’s Tommy Fullarton and we all need to get behind him and have faith in him.

Faith is something people grasp at in the absence of any actual evidence.

We’ve had one high in 57 years!

Roost it think back to 2014, PJ, Roo’s the wins started to come again the anticipation the influx of top end talent plus mature players coming our way, 2016 critical wins, SG taking over in ‘17 nearly making the eight, 2018 getting to a prelim, 2019 riddled with injury and a new game plan. ‘2020 Covid just missed the eight again, 2021 Wheeeee!! 2022 & 2023 H/S domination without getting the cherry through injury and pizz poor kicking, now a mini rebuild and major tweaking of our game plan, who knows what will unfurl in the years to come but I think we are back to 2016 with a lot to look forward to.

For the first time since 2013, what I'm excited/hopeful about it seeing the coach give his final press conference and a genuinely reliable operator (Smith now, Jackson then) start the assent back to where we need to be.

I can see what you see, but I am also unsure if Goodwin is the person to bring it about.

They are not antithetical concepts.

Did yesterday’s result make you see what I see 🤨

The post you are quoting says I did see what you see.

The reality of the situation is that we are behind a number of teams with how the game is played and Goodwin has only a few months to ensure he can see this evolution through.

I have been calling for it since before the end of the 2022 season and I am glad we have some momentum but what do they say about Swallows and Summer?

Long way to go before we sleep…

To me the reality is we are learning a new game plan ..it’s starting to show fruition but there will be hiccups along the way. He’s not implementing a game plan for Clarry ..Trac etc. Goody’s implementing a game plan around the raft of young talent that will be taking this team forward. The likes of our older brigade is to help build and support them and I think that will be exiting for them. Viney has been absolutely pilloried by posters here and yesterday he was exceptional. Looking at all teams this year ..I have no idea who will be no 1 at the end of it. There’s a new “media” darling every week..so I’m confident we’re heading in the right direction. That win yesterday & even the 3 point loss to GWS was exciting football. Many of our wins the last couple of years were just very boring & uninspiring

We've finally adhered to the new game plan and we can do it again and again ... but old habits die hard

But if we can keep it up, there's exciting times ahead and lots of wins in store

Getting back to that point where we can beat any team, anywhere is also on the agenda

There's enough base talent for that to happen and yesterday was a huge turning point, in my view

I'm prefer to be optimistic rather than circumspect
