Great work by the senior players. The new kids are finding it tougher this week.

That's ok. It's good.

Pretty off Lever. Doesn't do anything.

Chandler likewise, I've been a defender but has has a very hum ho pre season

And ate these the world's dumbest commentators, Picket I'd playing limited game time because he's suspended for the first few weeks!

Good contested footy in the third quarter. Oliver in everything, Gawn dominating, Tracc adding some class, Viney in and under. It’s the old crew back and humming with some cameo help from the newbies. Now if I am a “well paid” Head of Football I might be asking myself at this, admittedly, it’s very early in the season, but where is the value add of the “very highly paid” Coaching Department?

Me I don’t see any added value at this early stage! Hopefully we are holding our cards.

Another goal against Adams ... nothing against him, still learning etc., but bizarre for me that Tom Mac or someone else wasn't included.

Can someone tell these commentators that kosi is suspended for the first few games ? Usual commentary standard...

The number of basic handballs and kicks that have fallen short is alarming and slows our ball movement down. A lot of them aren’t pressure related either.

I’m pretty sure that Fritta was dealing with more than one injury for a large part of the season, and that could have accounted for his appearing disinterested.

Fritta has only recently become 100% injury/niggle free since preseason 2022, at which time began a long period of something troubling him to varying degrees at all times.

Clever ploy by F.D    totally outfoxed Freo...  they clearly have no idea of our abilities  ;)

Well done Dees

Probably an element of truth to it..... but what element  i wonder 🤷‍♂️

No matter how many pre-seasons he does, Viney' disposal never improves!

Clarry and Tracc have been massive positives

But not sure about Ed and Rivers as centre bounce midfielders

I don’t think Ed has the power and evasiveness to play the role, and I think unfortunately Rivers has been found out against the better midfields (despite his strong showing against weaker ones)

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
