Captain’s Run this morning at Goschs Paddock 10:00am.

But don’t be surprised if they’re out there at 9:30am or even 9am. They changed the start time to 9:30 a while ago.

What's a Captains Run for a match sim? Won't be much short of a normal training, numbers-wise? Presumably all the available 'probables' and all the 'possibles' vying for pretty well every position? Let us know who's there!

Will just be like a normal match day. I imagine Casey players and our players who aren’t picked for the first team will have their captains run following the firsts? (If the VFL practice match (North v Casey) is still going ahead tomorrow with the weather.

They’re out on the ground already. I didn’t get here early enough to take note of who’s here and who isn’t, (too busy chatting to Alejandro, my gorgeous Colombian barista) but with my cr@pppy eyesight I’ll endeavour to note attendance. Hopefully Kev turns up, for everyone’s sake. 🤪

Thus far I’m the only spectator 😭

The main group isn’t out here yet. There’s about six or seven players out there and I’m guessing these are the boys NOT playing tomorrow. There’s Langers, Tracc, Knuckles, Vines, Charles, Salo, Max, and Fritta.

Knuckles is running well around the boundary.

Jack Henderson is here too and Maysie is in this group.

I would think that group are playing tomorrow, or at least some of them.

* I stand corrected!

On the park:

Trac
Spargo
Gawn
Viney
Langdon
May
Fritsch
Salem
Henderson

Rehab: McVee (updated to include Melk, Kolt, AMW and Kentfield)

Spoke to "Gus" the trainer, he said these are the guys not playing tomorrow.  Will be playing a lot of the kids.

Henderson training to get to know the guys.

General drills with running incorporated into it for fitness, nothing really to report.

McVee doing plenty or run throughs at gentle pace, but impressed considering its an eight week hammy.

Which ones? Not Trac, McVee or Spargo.

I think they will rest Max for this match or at least half of it.

In the corresponding match in 2020 we featured an inexperienced lineup.

Looks like with all the said absentees of tomorrows match there won’t be any players left to play for Casey in their practice match 😂

Imagine May wouldn’t play either considering he played in the Indigenous game and we fly back to Perth next week to play Freo. + Viney has been on modified training so it would make sense that they give him another week rather than playing him in match sim against North.

Luker says his recovery will be loooong. Minimum two months. He’s doing very, very light exercises and stopping frequently. He’s still barely recognisable.

Windsor just left the track, not looking comfortable.  Not a new injury, but obviously still recovering

I imagine so, must have had the stuffing knocked out of him.

Coming from a long way back, will likely have his own mini pre season.

spoiler alert episode 3 GIF

Leb is a very happy lad. He said it’s good to be back in boots. About his injury- listed as a skin infection, he thought it was an ingrown hair at first but the medics said it was likely a spider bite and it became infected. In any case, it’s been cut out. It’s his big toe which is now sporting three stitches and he temporarily can’t bend it. He’s not playing tomorrow but has been told he’ll get a run vs Freo next week.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
