I don’t know or much care what Judd wants but for mine he replaces Salem, who honestly I loved as a player but he’s become about as useful as a toupee at a bald man’s convention. If we open 2026 with May at FB, Salem at HB, Lever in rehab and Judd playing for the Cats I’m tapping out till 27.

A lot of me me me about this playing group right now. We won a flag after parking the egos for a season - seems we've reverted back to a losers mentality (or just lost some of our best team first characters in the past couple of years).

Whoever we appoint as coach needs to be able to pull the group into line as a first course of action.

This is my take on it as well. Players that demand role changes, should be shown the exit door. Every player should have the view to play where the coach tells them to.

If he was useful elsewhere in a more damaging role i.e. HHF or wing or inside mid - better than what we already have in the 22, wouldn't we play him and develop him there? i mean this mindset annoys the [censored] out of me. It started with Trac years ago where he was playing as a CHF and wanted more midfield time.

This playing group has absolutely lost the essence of what it takes to be a high performing team.

All well and good excepting the fact that running Half Back's with neat disposal and sound defensive capabilities are what drives a team. McVee is that player, yes he's been poor this year but let's not start throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

We have squandered the opportunity to become a destination club post our ‘21 flag. Very difficult to do as the only way to do is through sustained on field success over a period of time. But we have really blown it. 4 years post flag and out list is in very poor shape. List management has been terrible.

At a successful club Judd would be happy to play wherever he was asked to and would not be holding off signing this contract.

We’re back in the same boat as the other smaller, less successful teams that have to convince players to stay and make accommodations for them rather than the other way around.

I hope Judd stays, he's a good player but the terms have to be right for us. And the attitude has to be right. To get back up the ladder we need players to buy in and help us improve. Judd is not giving me the impression he's all that committed to the club.

Are you really comparing Judd McVee to Nasiah? 😂

You play your best football when your happy, when your enjoying the game. This is obviously effected by where you play and the style of footy being played.

An example is one of my kids (representative player) is doing there role for the team in the backs, which lays the foundation for the teams success; then they helped out another team at a higher level (who are short on players) but played as a lead up forward in a team that looks for and honours the lead, they have been dominating games for that team (while still a role player in their own team - a lower level).

If Judd wants to be the high half forward flanker then he deserves the opportunity but he needs to beat the incumbents and by enough to cover the difference of playing a lesser player in his backs role (this is where team choices come into play - some have the back cover to give him the opportunity forward, others may not put as much significance on the back role again allowing opportunity to play forward)

NOTE team success often provides happiness and game enjoyment

Given Judd has told Ghosty several times he is staying, I choose to believe that.

He doesn’t seem the sort of bloke to lie personally, several times, to a very strong loyal supporter, when he could simply say he wasn’t sure at that point, or just avoid the question.

I am therefore hopeful he will sign with us soon.

He's ok.. not worth getting too worried about imho.

We should get Buckley to recruit Howe back with the promise to play forward in the twilight of his career only to play him down back at Casey

It's very hard not to agree with the majority of other posters on this one; the club at the moment is a mess (would rancid, be taking it too far?). It really seems we're back in the position of the player(s) dictating to the club with the club needing to 'buy in' to the player, as opposed to the player 'buying in' to the club.

It's imperative to hold onto Judd if we can, I'm flogging a dead horse on this one but he's the type of player we're sorely lacking more of - but, at what cost? If the supposed grievances are true, are we acting to our detriment moving on from the team-first and no d1ckheads approach that brought us a premiership in 2021? Are we putting the cart before the horse in allowing a player to dictate to us where, and how he wants to play? That's assuming this line of reporting is correct.

I don't blame Judd on wanting clarity about his role, that's understandable; as is wanting to know who the future coach (et al.) will be going forward. The inference is that this has been a big issue for Judd since the contract was put in front of him in 2024, but this only really adds to the peculiarity of the situation given he's apparently not courting offers, is happy in Victoria and doesn't want to leave, but seemingly is holding off signing. The totality of this is just out of the ordinary. There doesn't seem to be the standard approach of holding out for more money, or (reportedly) waiting to announce his intention to seek a trade.

I'd still have to counter that at best he's a 50% chance of staying; history suggests that at this point if you remain unsigned you're likely not going to be at the incumbent club. We'll wait and see, but it really seems to be one of the more intriguing out-of-contract situations we've had recently.

I 100% believe Ghosty, but I also 100% believe that Judd is delaying signing for a reason. I don't know what that reason is, but regardless, it's more noise that we just don't need.

From everything I've heard he wanted a 4 year deal and the club was happy to give him one. He's had a contract in front of him for months now.

For a kid that was picked up in the rookie draft during Covid, and has had a very average season, he sure is taking his sweet time to put pen to paper.

If he was struggling to get a game, I would understand, but he's been picked every single week and rushed back from injury into the senior side. If he's feeling hard done by because he wants/was told his role will change this season, than frankly tough luck.

A lot of players have made compromises to their role this season, including much more senior players like Petty, Trac and Viney. It's a team sport.

Think Howe played like 5 games up forward then Collingwood got some injuries and Buckley was like "oh well". He's never seen the forwardline since lol.

That is not true at all. Gawn was part of the crew to get Grundy vin and he sacrificed his role for the good of the team.

If Grundy was playing like he is now, he would not have been traded.

Unfortunately, it is true.

Max may’ve been keen to get Grundy before Grundy arrived. Max was never gonna “sacrifice his role.” Ever.

And TC… he was brought in to “give Max a chop out” not to be a standby should Max get injured, which is all he’s ever been.

It’s a difficult thing to discuss because god forbid anyone should say anything negative about Max… he’s untouchable.

Max gets what Max wants. Whether that’s right or wrong… it’s the truth.
