The Federal Government has announced it is proceeding with legislation to prevent those under 16 from using social media. This article appears to sum up the position well.

I don't know if there are many, or even any people under the age of 16 who use Demonland. I also don't know whether Demonland would fall into the category of being low risk and exempt. I'm not even sure that Demonland would be considered to be a "social media platform".

What I am concerned about, though, is the impact of the legislation on Demonland's administrators if Demonland is captured by the new law. Let's hope Demonland isn't captured by the law, but if it is, that it is considered by the eSafety Commissioner to be low risk and therefore exempt.

I assume Demonland will fall under the low risk category and likely exempted.

If posters act like 5yr olds will they still be exempt?

(asking for a friend, and you know who you are)

as far as i can make out its pretty unenforceable. like clicking "i am over 18"

It'll be interesting to see how Demonland and the other major sites manage the ID requirements.

I believe the problem on Demonland is of adults who act like five year olds. Legislation does not address adults impersonating children.

Do people under 16 know what a internet forum is?

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
