I am in Jomtien right now, enjoying a sea Breezeย

Could well be some serious trading later on tonight!!

There are quite a few people here who either need to declare their allegiances or cough up their information. The anti-Pert faction sounds like insider dealings. Thatโ€™s a political push as far as I can see. I donโ€™t mind โ€˜moving onโ€™, as it has been put, but I smell political motivation behind whatโ€™s being presented as an appraisal of conduct. Please correct me if I am wrong, but donโ€™t simply wave a banner!

Pert is the bloke who went on SEN boasting about himself overseeing the best culture he's seen in 40 years at the same time as we were having a string of major off field dramas that proved the culture is anything but. He and Goody to some extent as well both lost me the moment they did that.ย

I'm sure he's been a wonderful servant of football for a long time, but you can't go to the media and make outrageous claims, completely fail to back them up and then be commissioned to review the same football department that's fallen into chaos under your watch.ย

Pert went on SEN to defend a Club that was being attacked from all sides. I donโ€™t think you were ever onside with Pert & Goody, so you didnโ€™t lose a thing!

Well going on there and talking absolute rubbish is not the best way to defend it. it was embarrassing.

I listened. I wasn't embarrassed. I understood why he was defending the Club.

What did you think about his comments about the best culture in 40 years? i almost fell off my chair when he said that. ironically i thought more highly of Goody after that interview, but Pert that was the moment he lost me.ย

I thought he was stressing how far from the truth the claims of poor culture were.

Letโ€™s say, for instance, that we are raising a case about poor culture at GFC (a club that is considered to have a โ€˜good cultureโ€™). What could we use as ammo?

No, just the wrong boat!

It has been inferred that CP5 is โ€˜disgruntledโ€™ over the way the Clayton Oliver issue has been handled by the club. Considering that Clayton was on the brink during the second half of 2023, the fact that he played 21 games in 2024, and led the club for average disposals, is a minor miracle! I applaud the coach, his assistants, player leaders and officials for the transformation they bought about in Claytonโ€™s health and wellbeing, and ultimately, in his output in 2024. He is now well positioned to start 2025 at the height of his powers. Itโ€™s up to him! I think too much has been made of Petraccaโ€™s concerns on this issue. Are they not great mates! Wouldnโ€™t Christian be pleased to see a slow but steady redemption for Clayton. I would have thought that Christian would play a role in getting Clayton back on track (no pun intended) rather than using him as a catalyst for enquiring about possible trade options!

Also time for a microdose WW. Don't let yourself get so wound up by John Ralph etc. and the media in general.ย

We go into next year with possibly two of the league's top half a dozen midfielders. If we can get them fit and somewhere near their best then we'll be in for a shot at the flag. Some other things will also have to align of course.ย

If not, the season will be another fizzer, and we can start looking at a rebuild and what path we take, be it via top-ups or a longer-term approach. The rest right now is basically fugazi, and nothing to lose sleep over for the next six months.ย  .ย

Congrats WW I donโ€™t believe Perty should be hung out to dry defending our club. Yes it was a bit exaggerated as best culture in 40 years but ย we had been attacked from all angles.

Kate tried to defend the Club similarly but really did not have the facts for a 20 minute defence almost out of the blue.

She realises now that her role of President has been tarnished and by falling virtually on her own sword has smartly turned to the succession plan of a great Demon in Stephen Dmith.

Perhaps she should consider ( if SS can align earlier ) to leave more promptly in 2025 ย to let the Club slightly reset and breathe into a new era,ย

I am not sure about Whether Perty will be damaged enough to remain and most importantly if we canโ€™t raise our game plan to be more exciting and up to 2025 speed then our once Champion team will flounder mid or bottom of the ladder.
Too much ability to ruin this last chance of resetting with the younger boys who have come on board. Some creative recruiting and trading is needed also.ย

Goody will be also ย fighting for his last chance. Once Kate goes he will have lost his main supporter.

Lets hope this all can be uplifting and we can all get back to a united front similar to 2021 because there is still 16 players from thst glorious 13 th Flag.

However Clubs like Geelongdid in 2011 are bigger than individuals and like them who lost Gary Ablett Jnr we must be realistic that Trac may still look to move on in 2025 as well.ย
Our future is in our own hands with possibly new caretakers who we must embrace for our next successful era.ย

As fans we must get behind our boys and give them their best chance of success.ย

Snd โ€œfor ย Tracโ€™s sake โ€œ letโ€™s all get there in numbers and be a part of our 14th Flag this decade.ย

Go you mighty Dees!!ย

The people who actually know me as a person on this board will know that I don't mean to be cruel, and wouldn't take the option to say this in public lightly: it may be time to consult a doctor, if not already done.ย

I started this thread purely based on the fact the club has been in disarray over the past 12-18 months and it doesnโ€™t seem to be getting any better. ย  Any organisation that exhibits these traits needs to change and it starts at the top (Pert) and then hopefully the new CEO ย makes changes as they see fit. ย This is not a discredit the character of Pert but more a push for a change to hopefully get the club moving in the right direction again.ย

When I read what some have said about Gary Pert here, you would think he started life in 2023! In the interests of providing a full picture of his VFL/AFL life, I have listed some key moments.

Gary Pert

VFL schoolboys tour of Ireland 1981

Made his senior debut in 1982 as a 16 year old

163 games for Fitzroy

State of Origin team in 1984 as an 18 year old

VC for Fitzroy in 1988

70 games for Collingwood

Played for Victoria 6 times

AA team 1985

Fitzroy Best & Fairest 1989

Fitzroy Team of the Century

CEO of Collingwood 2007 โ€“ 2017

CEO of Melbourne 2018 -

That makes him CEO of two Premiership teams!

I make that 43 years of decorated service so far!

ย

So Pert was a good footballer. Big deal. Brian Cook was a modest player, playing a few games for us in the 70s, but has been a great CEO at 3 clubs. I want someone of Cookโ€™s calibre as our CEO so we can let Pert have more time in his pool room to polish his trophies and decorations. Ability to kick the pigskin around is irrelevant as to quality of leadership at senior executive level.

Weโ€™re talking about a bloke whose conduct during the AGM was very poor, and who famously came out and told us our culture was the best heโ€™d seen in a footy club in 40 years. And whereโ€™s our Strategic Plan that was promised to be delivered back in February? These are the publicly visible shortfalls in performance. Iโ€™d be thinking about icebergs and wondering about the level of performance on things we donโ€™t have visibility on.ย

As to CEO of two flag teams, the first one would be under Maguire as effective executive president, and the second would be where he Steven Bradburyโ€™d in to be CEO of the House that PJ Built.ย

As a CEO heโ€™s probably a good footballer. By all means maintain your cheerleader allegiance to him, but Iโ€™ll be barracking for our club to have the best leadership we can get.

RE HEADLINE, have they left the building yet?? And if not WHY NOT??

I don't get it.

People are demanding an independent investigation and others are asking why board members and employees haven't left the building.

Shouldn't that depend on what an investigation uncovers or are people always guilty as charged on the say so of other relying on as yet unproven "facts"?

ย

Beauty of an external review is that if Pert is fine as some seem to be claimed, that'll be re-enforced in the reviews findings, if, as i and others suspect there is a need for change, that'll be shown in the review as well.ย

It's much better to know where we stand and make the appropriate changes.ย

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season.
