I should probably read the posts, but after losing three thousand players because of dee-saster I can't be bothered.

Put Choo Choo back in the guts to get the ball out and stop listening to the pundits who say he needs to kick more.

Then we become a better team immediately.

Meanwhile I ve heard he is embarking on one of those super duper, espionage, fitness, alien army, predator,  roadrunner, cross code fitness guru camp type things and will come nack  almost super human upon return!! Sounds promising🤩

In two minds: it could be smart business but he’s heart and soul isn’t he?

If we do trade him, what message does that send externally and internally? Genuine question, not rhetorical.

No one is bigger than the club?

We tried our best, help him get on track but this is a footy list decision only?

Fascinating to see how that is framed.

What I don't get is this: we expect players to show total loyalty and commitment to the club and the jumper; how is it that we are not expected to give them the same loyalty?  That is why I hate this sort of talk. We owe one of our greatest, most committed, relentless and outstanding players the loyalty that he has shown us - by, eg, playing half a season in obvious severe pain in his dominant handballing hand.

I know it is said that football is a business. Does any one of us really believe that? - that we love Melbourne for its financial bottom line? No, We love our club because we love our club because we love our club. It is not just a business. It is  a  passion and we should respect it and treat it as such.

Ollie fan I take it?

How did you guess?

But I was making a broader point.

On a more serious note - the rumour was that other clubs were interested in him… Hardly the kind of ego-breaking news that would come from the Disloyal Despots of Demonland (c).

Also, the club pays the players and this is a business that they treat as such - it means more to us of course but don’t imbue too much - you will only get disappointed.

It's ironic that other clubs are interested in Oliver but seemingly no interest in Tracc (outside of the usual 'all clubs would love a player of Petracca's ability' palaver).

No chance we trade Oliver IMHO.

My post was very serious.

And its concern related back to the idea that Melbourne was not immediately shutting down speculation ( although I don't really believe there is any thought of trading him; I think that was bignoting rumour-mongering).

Oh I can tell how serious you are about this.

Clubs have been trying to get our best players for half a decade now. We are not in a position to not listen right now. Stop making it so personal, when it is not even personal to the person it discusses.

There is no media speculation to shut down at this stage.
The info came from a poster with good inside knowledge and was about other clubs approaching us for Clarry.
Do you want the club to speak out every time another list manager rings them?

It might have something to do with the asking price being more attainable. I don’t think we trade either for at least two years.

Guys, I’m hearing that Clayton is not totally off the table.
He’s gettable for the right offer.

Is the bit about the response that concerns me.

And I didn't get personal about anyone. I did reply to a comment starting," On a more serious note..."

But my post was really about the whole trading players out ethos, and the expectation of one-way loyalty.

Hnmm hypothetically..would you take Jeremy Cameron as a straight swap for Clarry???

Who is getting the ball to Jazza if Clarry is gone?

Oliver the best Demon player I've seen in my lifetime (just ahead of Gawn). It seems he may have turned a corner off field and it sounds like he's determined to get back to where he was on the field (which is as good as anyone in the country).

I'd like to think the mail was slightly misconstrued and we shut it down immediately. If he's committed to getting himself and the team back to where we were 3 years ago then I want him to be a Demon for life. There's no offer that could match what he brings at his best and we should show loyalty based on his commitment to drive us forward.

When was the last time Clarry hit anyone lace out in our forward line on purpose?

Tell me you don’t understand the role of an inside mid without telling me you don’t understand the role of an inside mid

Is this an inference Clarry does not provide value to the team/club?

4 score involvements a game  in 2024.

It was in response to kicking skills. JNM’s comment was vague in itself.  My god people are sensitive in regards to Clarry on this site 😆

Best midfielder in the game between 2021-2023.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
