I just don't see what others see with Allan.  My secret hope (prob not popular views on here) is that we get Langford at 5 and if Tauru is not available at 9, that we split the pick.  Looking at the phantom drafts splitting the pick will enable us to get one of the players that many of us on here are wanting to pick at 9 PLUS something else eg a JT smoky special.

Obviously it comes down to what JT rate v the clubs around us but this draft seems such high quality / and yet so even... why wouldn't we get 3 rather than 2?

The kicking is a worry from Bo Allen.

to be fair not one of the top prospects has elite kicking from what I’ve seen.

Some can kick it well like smiley and Langford but they still regularly miss targets . (Expect Lindsay )

Someone explain why we would pass on Draper , he reminds of Warner explosive great evasion and a real competitor .

Don’t think we would but he’ll be gone most likely but if he slips through I’d think we take him ahead of Viking for sure

But NOT ahead of Langford just for record & agree on Allan his kicking is concern whilst not awful we want good kicks and hence why Smilie (if there) wld be my pref for sure and again his ceiling is immense!

Late mail has Tigers taking Allan at #7 so let’s hope that occurs and means we can get either Travaglia/Smilie/Tauru..

A Langford/Smilie combo wld be HELLA exciting — mid/fed combos with foot skills and hands both 191cm+ good lawwwddd

Interesting.. explain?

for me it’s the go-home factor and if so 💯 spot-on he has that written all over him based on his interviews etc

Hopefully - I thought a poster recently said they had feedback from one of the coaching staff that they were concerned he may never have the intensity required to make it at AFL level

He has to make an impact this season or the alarm bells will certainly be ringing

I think that was more of a rev-up than a criticism — but being a more lead-up chest mark target means he can be the missing link in transition from 60-90m out Ala Melksham/Brown but better and bigger/faster

Too many sleepers on Xavier Lindsay at our pick in my opinion. Reckon he’s a red hot chance to be the one even if Allan is still available. (Although Richmond picking him at 6 wouldn’t be a surprise with their confidence of Smillie getting to pick 10).

Armstrong is the slider. Cal has said a few times now he thinks he could get to Richmond’s picks near the 20’s. Interviewed poorly with numerous clubs.

Isn’t this role suited to Turner?

You'd have to consider it in a strong draft

I’m not worried in the least as to who we get in this draft. The 2 players we do select will almost certainly be better than 2 players we have lost since the end of the season. So no matter who, we will be a better side. All we really need to know is that JT and team will pick the best two available for us. I’m sure there will be disappointments from some about whoever we choose, but there will be only 2 reasons for that. The first is that anotherClub chose your preferred player before us; or secondly, JT and team know better than all of us.

Seems like we will get one of:

Langford/Tauru at 5

Tauru/Allan/Travaglia/Lindsay at 9

There is a chance all of our targets at 9 are gone, however, particularly if we get Tauru at 5.  Who then? Reid, Berry possibly?

We've all got our opinions but I wouldn't not be excited by this - both could end up champions but to me it would be silly to go with both.  Despite being decent kicks, I'm not sure how much they will help us with ball movement / forward connection and not sure if we have space for both playing similar roles (HFF / pinch hitting in midfield to begin with).

Given JT's comments, i reckon they'll likely to go one mid and then another small / half forward / midfielder who has is known for running and foot skills - maybe Linsdsay / Berry ?

It's funny. I came away thinking that perhaps Berry was being considered too. Three times he mentioned small forwards with mids and talls as possibles. Maybe he was just deliberately broadening the field to give absolutely nothing away.

Yes. The links and Armstrong talk has dropped off pretty quickly for a lot of clubs. Maybe it’s a tactic, but won’t be one of our picks (which I’m stoked about)

In the unlikely event that occurred, then Smilie would still be there and would be a likely target.

It's possibly a few games being played as well, I personally think we've sent North a message that we're going to take Tauru, potentially so they don't slide down and we end up getting someone like Smith or Langford sliding to us.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
