I secretly hope it ends that way although I would love Langford in addition to Tauru. Guess we can only hope!!

This would clearly be the outcome that our recruitment would value the most as they must rate those two above everybody else that would be available to us at 5.

My take

1: Lalor

2: Ashcroft (bid)

3: Fos

4: Draper

5: Langford

6: Smith (our pick)

7: Smillie

8: Tauru

9: Lindsey (our pick)

10: Kako (bid)

11: Allan

what I want

Our first pick  Langford or smith

Second pick Reid or Lindsey

You missed a pick between our picks. 9 gets pushed back to 10.

This guy follows the draft fairly closely.

Langford and Allan again

Seems to be firming as the most likely outcome, with Langford and Lindsay another likely pairing

Listened to Gettable.

Lindsay was interviewed - his manager says he is right in the mix for our pick.

Adelaide list boss was interviewed - says they have been locked in for a few days, but it was a close call.  Very little to split the top group, which they think includes Kako and Tauru. Said Draper and FOS struggled in the carnival as they came undercooked due to injury, which made it hard to compete.  Said they came good at the end of the year.

Also said they didn't need a big bodied midfielder as they have Dawson and Curtain, who they think could be a midifielder.

Said they were interviewing one other player today, which could alter who they picked.  Wouldn't reveal who - but maybe Tauru?  He said Tauru was absolutely amongst the best "four or five" players in the draft.

Sounds like they like Draper, but its a pretty line ball call. Seems like the other two in the frame are Langford and Tauru.

Thankfully they can only pick ONE at 4. !!

Agreed … predictions are saying likely Langford at 5 & Allan/Lindsay at 9

Could see this happening:

5.  Langford
6.  Smillie
7.  Travaglia
8.  [Saints trade 8 and an F2 to Richmond for 10 and 24] Allan
9.  Tauru

I think if Tauru and Allan are on the board at 8, there will be a lot of people coming for that pick. If Richmond are so keen on Allan that they would take him at 6, they might trade up, as he might go to us at 9 if not.

Otherwise, GWS, Port and Sydney all have picks that they could use to trade up.  In an even draft, however, I image a lot of clubs would prefer to have a few picks rather than one good one.

North could offer a F1 for 8, however, which you would assume is a top 5 pick.

You missed a Daints second pick. We should be 10 if we are 6 !!

I looked at it twice thinking hmmm something ain’t right but still missed it haha updated!

Just shows how confusing the nga and f/s picks make the draft. Thanks for posting your take !!

I really want to know why we haven’t been linked to Sid Draper in any of the many phantom drafts. Every one I’ve read has Draper linked to Carlton, Adelaide, St Kilda and even the Roos in a few but not one has us linked to him at all. I thought that if all of FOS, Lalor, Smith and Langford are off the board that Draper would be the next best. I’d rather Draper or Smillie at our first pick than Tauru. 🤞🏼

I must say I haven’t been confused until I did it myself!

No worries! Love seeing everyone’s thoughts.
I feel like for the first time in a few years this is one of our most important drafts we really need to get right. What do you think? (I know the aim is to always get them right but this year it’s a must with two top ten picks)

Anyone seen Tom Scully dad’s phantom draft?

he is usually on the money

So the Tigers will end up with something like:

Lalor

Smillie

Allen

Shanahan

PLUS 4 more in the twenties

Nuts!

I’m hoping the Crows are settled on Draper so we don’t have to worry about missing out on Langford

Richmond’s interest in Allan is the potential curveball for our second pick though

Do they jump on him at 6 if they think Smilie slides? Do they try and trade for one of St Kilda’s picks to jump ahead of us? If Allan is gone but Tauru is available do we end up with Langford and Tauru instead?

Lots to play out

Nah where's that posted, do I need the KFC app or something? 😂

Pretty remarkable that Cal and others are changing their order even at this stage

The top 5 is locked imo. No way Crows pass on Draper. We will take Langford

But the next 7 is anyone’s guess

It's The Taming of the Screwed. 😄

Thanks to these phantom drafts clubs know where to trade to get in front of other clubs.

Richmond going to beat us to Bo Allan now because of Cal [censored] Twomey.

How is this fair?

Reckon we get Langford at 5 and Tauru at 9. No idea what happens though if Richmond throws everything off with selecting Smith or O'Sullivan at 1.

Would be a great result. If travaglia also manages to slide I’d snap him up at 9

Richmond beating us to Allan would make it more likely that Tauru slides to our second pick, especially if the tigers trade for one of the saints picks. Langford and Tauru would be a realistic dream scenario in my eyes.

Clubs would know more then Cal

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
