Hard to see us getting Tauru unless we go for him at 5 - which from all reports seems unlikely. Doubt he'd still be there at 9.

Only unknown for me is if we do a last minute trade to split 9 for a couple of picks in the teens. Unlikely from what we're hearing, but given the evenness of the draft, lots of cards being played close to chests. Hard to see Richmond bothering given that they have 2 picks straight after ours, but GWS with 15+16 might be tempted if there's a player available at 9 that they really want who won't last.

Then there's WCE 12 + 26 (??) or even (yikes!) Port with 13 29 36 if we wanted to get into the second round.

But ... unlikely it would seem.

I know Twomey has good inside sources but something tells me that its Tauru that will eventually be our first selection.

i still think Langford does not make it past the Crows.

Same, I will be very happy if we hear Langford’s name called out at pick 5 (or one of the other top mids, but we’re not taking Draper for some reason).

The draft is done months in advance that's why Cal knows so much they spoonfeed him. Melbourne always give inside info going back to the Burgan days. Mark my words there are no surprises in the draft anymore. We will be getting Langford and Allen.

That's because Draper is going to the Crows.

So you don’t think there is a chance that the Crows take Langford?

No they will take Draper SA boy and is also better than Langford.

I'm really not liking the push towards Langford.  Where exactly are Trengove, Toumpas and Tyson these days?  All highly rated juniors who had everything going for them except speed.  I'd be absolutely furious to see us blow another top ten pick on a guy who looks amazing at u18s, but can't keep up at AFL speeds.  Especially with so much talent left on the board.

I'm not sure if you've seen the argument for Langford in terms of the speed issue. That is he has a very similar profile to Cripps in terms of his game and body. Ran a very similar time trial to Cripps and Bont. But both of those two were able to develop a bit of burst pace to drive the legs out of stoppages and be damaging mids. I can possibly see Langford getting to those heights one day. Thats the argument for.

HOWEVER. I am actually with you. I'm going to be a bit disappointed picking up a big slower mid when the top 4 have so much talent, pace and dynamics that we desperately need.

Unfortunately it looks as though the mids we want will be off the board by the time we pick.

Still hoping North coughs up and picks Tauru at 2. leaving us with one of the best 4 mids left to pick. Hoping for a Jackson type scenario where North just simply wanted him badly enough as the main bolter.

I have zero worries about Langford and speed. Yes Bont and Cripps were picked on for it in pre-draft profiles. Does Langford near top of 2km time trial counter that fresh speed though?

I'm all in on Langford at 5.

Bo Allan another beast midfielder who has little flaws.

I'd be super happy with these two. I couldn't think of a better result personally.

I have this hunch that we will select Travaglia though. His profile screams what JT loves.

However... I've been left disappointed in the past and I'm nervous.

Those saying all recruiters would of taken Weideman over Curnow/McKay. Then praise JT for getting later picks right. I say this. We took Weideman, JT and team can only take the blame, no excuses.

It was obvious Weideman wasn't a competitive beast. Secondly if JT hasn't learnt the lesson that picking a key forward in the top 10 is a gamble after that then doing it again is so damn stupid.

If we take Armstrong I'll spew. I'll be ropable.

Finally on a positive note it's great to see we have talked to perhaps all the top names and probably linked with most the top 10.

Over to you JT.

I'd be bitterly disappointed in the list management group if they identify forward depth A priority over the midfield right now. It's a very real possibly in a few years time our midfield will be C grade if we don't take 2 quality mids with 5 and 9 on Wednesday

You are panicking. I am expecting a full return from Clarry and Trac  and continued good form from JV.

In addition Sparrow Riv Kossie and McVee for cameos or more.

And the two surprises of Pup Brown snd Harry Sharp who will run all day and do the grunt work along with Lingers the Duke and hopefully AMW.  Plus the move of Windsor to  the centre full time is for more centre and spine running power and class and goal kicking potential.

Thats why I believe one mid hopefully either Langford or Jaguar Smith would be ideal.

And adding either Tauru Armstrong or Shanahan as a KP player and Riak Andrew as a rookie gives us with Jeffo extra potential for the spine forward or back considering that all of Disco JVR Harry Adams and Jmac have all played both forward or back in high class Junior competitions or AFL.

Let’s be honest if two mids are selected Drpending upon who I will be happy as well but for team balance one each appeals considering the quality of choice ar 5 and 9.

Langford for me just doesn't bring much different but as a compliment to Windsor, fact he is a left-footer boosts him a little I guess so I am starting to warm to this.. Allan still spooks me as far as go home factor foes though

Langford kicks goals which we also need badly Smith as well up forward good and has pace and skill to burn either as 5 pick and a forward either Tauru if available or Armstrong or Shanahan who  has sped up the forwards list of late.

If we get a forward at 9 pick a good’un still available no doubt like Allan Lindsay Reid or Trainer.

Think about it JT is a genius. Pick the best WA talent develop him into a beast. He gets homesick, trade him for Harley Reid in a couple years. Brilliant from the dees!

Yeah the signs are there for sure, but I guess my point is that it's still touch and go. I'm definitely optimistic but I think we're a bit quick to assume he's part of our next premiership midfield when he's only played a short amount of time there.

Why worry he wound be in our best 23 and  that is all that matters really and would be super versatile. That’s the upside.

Can someone just say that there's a 1 in a 1000 chance that we'll get Draper so we can post a Dumb and Dumber meme?

Cal nailed last years and I think he has this years covered

I expect he won’t get nearly as many right this year but I’d be pretty shocked if he gets any of the top 5 wrong. If we get Langford I’ll be stoked.

Agree, I reckon he has the top 5 nailed

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
