Why does it have to be a band? Why not that guy that used to have the talking Teddy bear on his lap on 'hey hey it's Saturday', man that bear was funny.

I reckon the AFL should have got Bob Dylan to do it. He refuses to play anything anyone wants to hear - so even his fans are unhappy.

If you’re going to disappoint people you may as well go all in - and disappoint everyone.

I've got an idea. Just play the game of football. Lionel Ritchie, Robbie Williams & Kiss were all fine, but I wouldn't have missed them one bit. I just want to watch the game that decides the premiers. Who cares a tinkers cuss if there is no vacuous, ponced-up pop sensation with limited talent but over hyped self exposure galumphing across a sporting arena?

It’s funny, over on Reddit AFL there’s been a minor movement over the past few years to get the Gizz to play a GF. Not that the AFL would ever tweak that they’re one of the biggest Australian bands currently touring the world, but they’ve said they’d never do it anyway. Nothing against the game (one of their first singles was called “Footy”) but they’re simply not interested in the trappings of mainstream recognition. Another wise move from them.

"I'd never join a club that wanted me as a member" wise move 😜

Could be worse, we could have what the opening ceremony in Paris just dished up.

I'm 53 and I dig Katy Perry. You can get a good hour or so out of her best songs and they are all superb. Great for long drives.

Interesting that the two mega acts for the Olympics opening ceremony were not French.

Lady Gaga and Celine Dion

That's what I call cringeworthy

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
