I enjoy listening to his segment on mick in the morning on mmm.

Max is a good bloke & I put him in the same category as bill brownless in the sense if you passed them down the street you could say g'day & you'd know they'd be friendly back.

I remember 3 years ago I was on the same flight as the team going to Brisbane where we needed to win to be in the top 4 & I passed max on the plane & said don't stuff up our top 4 chances. He laughed & said we'll try not to.

We are so lucky to have him in our team & I wish Jim was around to see the great man he has become after Jim saw something in him.

Fagan is a genuinely good bloke - and a good coach

Somewhere in a storage box in the shed at my Mum's place is a guernsey signed by Max at a pre-season visit to the Demon shop, I think it was before he ever played a game, maybe just those first couple before injury. . Proof of timing would be the sponsor logos and the fact that it was also signed by Ricky Petterd. Oh, it might even be as No.37!

Obviously not objective but I try to be about other clubs and supporters.

Carlton fans have had a long run of not winning a flag so there is probably a lot of frustration.

But we've had one of the longest droughts in flag history. Ironically, finally broken by no small part from Max's 21 season. While relatively quiet by his standards in the premiership game he set us up all year. But in the in the two finals with a solid game v the lions and an incredible performance against Geelong in the preliminary ( after kicking the winning goal in the last h at a game at Kardinia), he booted five mind bending majors. One a classic 70m odd roost from the middle on the run.

I send my brother in law a crazed cats fan, a picture of Max before Geelong games.

But with other supporters, I do really believe we are much more civilized. Maybe we are. This will probably sound arrogant, but it's quite possible we are more from the upper echelons of society classes.

I would love to get a breakdown of stats on supporters jobs, education and salaries. Marital status and iqs etc.

Not that these are the a thermometer of civility but perhaps we are more rational than others and don't constantly boo just for the sake of it. I find Eagles fans the worst.

Maybe the opposite holds too. Successful club supporters have a sense of entitlement that we don't.

In any case, We should be proud of the composure and class we bring to the competition. Including our cheese platters.

I mean what could be wrong with eating something other than a delicious but offal filled meat pie that always burns the roof of one's mouth. ( I find I always have to nibble mine and then it's gone without any big bites that bring gastronomic satisfaction).

It's a shame we can't bring in the odd bottle of Penfolds now and then. Some of these vintages are without doubt the wines of the true connoisseur.

And as for the supposed accusations levelled at us, of skiing, even if true, what in heavens could be so detrimental about this. To be out and about in the Snowy mountains highlands, enjoying some of the greatest scenery and fresh air in the world while getting a healthy spot of exercise.

I mean at the end of the day, despite all the beamers you see with those famous MFC adhesives on them, doesn't reveal elitism. For me it shows we appreciate the finer things in life. Like high end engineering and quality acoustic systems to enjoy playing our classy theme song while the others go back to their boxes via unreliable public transport . Often they try to bait some poor Dees fans on the same mode of transportation. These patient MFC souls, are just doing their bit for the environment via active choice.

So aside from their resentment of us having one of the best players in the competition, I imagine they probably do have a bit to grumble about.

But who cares. We simply know we are superior. Although in full disclosure, I drive a Kia. (It does have a very good seven year comprehensive warranty). So if not more successful in life and I'm not saying your income defines this, we are at least, the most mannered and decently behaved. That to me is the true litmus test of class.

The others just keep inbreeding the constant, dear I say one would call "yobbo," element.

Yea it's a big call and decent of Fagan to acknowledge. Be difficult not too though. But credit given to both.

I'm still seeing him in my mind's eye taking all those seemingly effortless marks v the lions in the last in the weekend's game.

And that soccer style crucial goal, seems to be his new best way of scoring. If we can just get opponents on the mark to stand with their legs open he could win a Coleman at full forward.

As fit as he his and the knocks he's always taken, I do worry how long we will have him playing. Ruckman don't usually play longer than other positions. But you know he's going to always been involved in the club in some way. So there's that. As it should be.

I also recommend a nice smaller statue/ trophy award after retirement for annual future games against the lions with the theme of courage/ leadership.

Or maybe more appropriate for Geelong games. Just a pinch of salt for an old wound.

A nice little bronze trophy of Max walking a cat or lion if it's not too bias. Either will suffice. Perhaps both in memory of our two finals in 21 and the previous last home and away game when he kicked the winning goal. So maybe a lion with a cat either side of it.

As much as I admire the bloke, that final set shot at Kardinia was heart in the mouth stuff. I remember a camera shot of Oliver talking to Danger and thinking they were both saying, 'He'll miss it". I think he surprised himself. He didn't look nervous at all.😄Nerves of bronze.

Now this is an interesting statistic for our number 11

Speaking of statistics, if you go by the numbers Gawn is having his best season.

2025 is his outright best for disposals and clearances and score involvements (and free kicks, which is nice)

But then this season is in his top three for pretty much every other stat, but only one stat at a time.

For example, he took slightly more marks per game in 2022, and his best season for hitouts was 2018, and his most tackles was 2016, and 2020 just barely edges this year for intercepts, but only 2025 is making a podium finish for every stat.

Logically, if Gawn is already credibly considered the best ruck ever, it follows that if this season does indeed prove to be Gawn's best then it must also be the best single season of any ruck, ever.

(touch wood, spit into the wind, and whatever else you must do to preserve the sanctity of witnessing something sacred, because we are indeed witnessing something sacred)
