Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Curse of Norm

I can't help but wonder if there really is a curse on this club. I think that it's getting to a stage now where we are consistently disappointing, rather than being consistently "bad".

It plays on my mind, it really does. The culture went down the drain with his depature.

The day a man leads this club to greatness once again is the day that curse will be broken. Until then, all we can do is deal with mediocrity; at an on-field level and at a board-room level.

Nothing will change until someone comes in with a passion that cannot be exceeded by anyone, anywhere. Someone that will die for this club, and I don't think we're had someone like that lead this club since Norm Smith.

I believe in the curse

But why did you post a video of Roy Orbison without his sunglasses? Nice to see we had a celebtity supporter back in the day

Smith was sacked in 1965 after winning the previous season's Flag, and also winning the first 8 games of the season

Umm why the hell was he sacked then?

They had a meeting. The meeting went like this.

"So, I got in the Delorean with Doc and went to 2007. We're supposed to be the laughing stock of the AFL; a prissy club with no aggression or success. The only choice is too sack Norm and therefore lead this club to half a century of disappointment."

Now, that sounds dumb. But it sounds a hell of a lot smarter than sacking a man for no known reason, who may just be the one of the most successful coaches in AFL history.

How do we find the names of the board members that sacked him?

It is those mindless gits that banished our club to decades in the wilderness, and in turn have made our lifes [censored]

A serious look in the mirror is needed if your blaming the club for a [censored] life!

I really hope so. I was actually cursing how many games I was originally going to miss. I still am, but gee, not as much anyone. Last game is Melb v Adel. Should be a beauty

My cousins wants to make a banner and bring it to the game against the roos.

"Re-hire Norm..."

That'd be funny. I'd clearly want no part of that, but it would be an easy path to getting on TV for a few seconds.

Calabrese.

Call it the prevailing culture at the club or curse, it amounts to the same thing.

We've been wandering lost like the jews in the desert but they found their way

out after forty years. We keep repeating failure.

For us, we just set forth into the barren sands from the Junction Oval each week.

Victories are merely a mirage to lift the spirit of the faithful.

What would be the point in playing again in Sept. - we'd only be let down again.

The Club's best hope is the projected shift from the Junction Oval and the passing

of time that will see the the old brigade make way for those like McLean (Captain,)

Sylvia (Vice Captain,) Jones, Newton, Bartram, Frawley etc. The young bloods

with hunger for victory.

You have to admire the foundation that Daniher has built under trying conditions.

Zen-like he has strived to find a path through the sands but to no avail.

Passion is cheap and usually outsmarted. We've tried that.

For me, I'd prefer the one to save us to be a master strategist. I couldn't care less

if he was even uninterested in the Demons so long as he was all-consumed by

conquering.

Apparently in the Glory Days, the powers off the filed were Warne-Smith and Cardwell. We could do with some acceptance of responsibility at the head of the fish.

if you go to the collesium there are guys dressed as romans who will et you take a photo and then charge you a massive amount for taking it so either say no or at least make sure you know how much they will charge you before hand, its cheaper that way

in spain eat at tapas places and get patatis bravis (sp) and if you get to a place in rome called argentina square there is the best pizza shop there

you will love the food in spain and italy

have fun mate

there is a definite curse on us.

good news is, the white sox and red sox both broke their respective curses in 2005 and 2004 respectively, so our curse shouldn't last forever.

the bad news: they had to wait over 85 years for the curse to end! double our waiting time

Yep. I was gonna say that before I read that last night. And the red sox went through a hell of a lot more than we'll ever have to go through.

yeah so true.

though they got to come from 3 games to 0 down against the yankees to win 4-3. that's like doing it against the pies!

my girlfriend's mum is from chicago, had grew up her whole life without winning a 'world series' so them winning was massive.

Hilarious. Can we have two flares on either side of the banner poles too please?

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
