Dees after 4 games should again have a few players up in the votes. I’ll try to update weekly or periodic.

v Swans

Likely no Dees players get votes

only JV7 could be considered for a vote

v Dogs

Likely votes

M.Gawn 3 C.Oliver 2 S.May 1

Trac might get a 1 vote

v Hawks

Likely votes

C.Petracca 3 M.Gawn 2 B.Fritsch 1

v Port

M.Gawn 3. ANB 1 (Butters will probably get the two votes). Trac might squeeze a 1 vote but unlikely.

so after 4 rounds likely Gawn to have between 5-7 votes, Trac 3-5 votes and Clarry 2-3 votes

Would be disappointed if ANB didn't get at least 2 votes - he repeatedly stood and delivered for us when the game threatened to go Port's way in the 3rd.

Last night I think it’s almost unanimous that the votes are headed by Trac.  For me it’s likely to be

3 C.Petracca

2 J.Dawson - yes the umps were so crows biased, he will steal 2 votes 😡

1 M.Gawn

May or Lever or Mcvee could vote but backline players mostly get ignored

so after 5 games, likely Gawn to have between 6-8 votes, Trac also on 6-8votes and Clarry 2-3 votes.

Hope you are right. Max is still at 100/1 - same as Grundy which is ridiculous -  and I am on him.

Gawn has managed double-figures Brownlow votes six times, including 20 in 2018. So it is possible.

By the numbers this season you could realistically make the case that he is playing his best football. The only stat that he's down on is contested marks but that can be changed with one clunking game. His stubborn refusal to kick his 100th goal might be a problem.

Every once in a while it blows my mind to reflect on how good Max is. He has been monstrously dominant in three games already this season and very, very good in another, but by the numbers this is all just normal.

Anyway, currently on 99 goals, 97 behinds. Which will hit the ton first and will we all be storming the pitch? :D

2 goals, 30 disposals, 7 tackles, seeing we lost it may not be as high on the list but should at least get 1 vote hopefully. Something like the below

3 - Heeney
2 - Grundy
1 - Viney

I think the Lions players will grab all the votes.  They were 8 goals up before the last 15 minutes saw the Dees actually find the footy in the contest and kick the last 4 goals.  Gawn was clearly our best and may get a 1 vote but I think it’s unlikely.
Probably after 6 games, Gawn sits between 6-8 votes, Trac also on 6-8votes
 and Clarry 2-3 votes.

V Tigers.

M Gawn 3

S May 2

T Rivers 1

Probably after 7 games, Gawn sits between 9–11 votes, Trac also on 6-8votes , May on 3-4 and Clarry 2-3 votes.

V the cats, like to see either May or Lever in the votes.  With the Dees win, likely it’s

3-S.May

2- M.Holmes

1- M.Gawn

so projected votes have Gawn between 10-12votes, Trac around 6-8votes , May on potentially 6-7 votes and Clarry modestly on 2-3 votes.

We won’t be winning the brownlow and i couldn’t care less

we have 5-6 guns who take votes off each other which is great

V the AFL FAVOURITES Bluescum

3-S.Walsh

2- C.Petracca

1- P.Cripps

The projected votes have Gawn between 10-12votes, Trac around 8-10 , & May on potentially 6-7 votes.

If it was an award that wasn't exclusively mids then Max would be looking at top 3 right now behind Heeney and Merrett.  He is having a superb season.

Smashed by the Eagles in a very poor performance

Eagles definitely will scoop up all the votes.

Likely votes

3- H.Reid. Embarrassed our experienced gun mids. Ouch.  He bullied us without much of a whimper

2- T.Kelly.  Did Goodwin not see him clearly as someone to restrict. 30 possessions as he ran free (like Walsh did the previous week)

1- J.McGovern.  Dees players kicked it to him all night as if he was our key forward

or

Jake Waterman might get the 1 vote with his 5 goals by strong marks & straight kicking

  • Author

It’s another 3 votes for Max Gawn surely.

I think it’s likely

3- M.Gawn

2- J. Viney

1- C.Petracca

maybe S.May for a vote

I think the umps like and remember Mids who also kick goals. The goals and inside play get them votes ahead of strong defensive trio

The projected votes have Gawn between 13-15, Trac around 9-10 , & May on potentially 7-8 votes. JV7 up to 4 votes likely.

V Freo. Nil.
V Pies. Nil.

v Kangas.  3 votes for Viney, 2 LDU, 1 Rivers. May deserved votes but it’s always biased towards players in the midfield.

The projected votes have

Gawn between 13-15

Trac around 9-10

May possibly 8 votes

JV7 possibly 7votes

AFL.com.au's Brownlow Predictor

22 Isaac Heeney (Sydney)
19 Patrick Cripps (Carlton)
18 Errol Gulden (Sydney)
17 Nick Daicos (Collingwood)
16 Chad Warner (Sydney)
16 Zach Merrett (Essendon)
15 Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs)
15 Lachie Neale (Brisbane)

V Brisbane Lions.  Given the unfortunate loss, likely it’s 3 Dunkley 2 Pickett 1 McCluggage. JV7 could get a vote as he had another excellent game.

Still guys like Daicos, Heeney, Cripps, Bont and Merrett are favourites this year at this stage.

If Patrick Cripps wins the Brownlow this year, I propose the AFL reinstate his suspension in 2022 so that Lachie Neale can get the Brownlow he should have won.

Then, they can correct the preposterous 2023 result to say Bontempelli gets that Brownlow, and hey presto, peace justice in the world.

Neale has the Brownlow he deserved, Bontempilli gets the Brownlow he deserved, and Cripps gets a Brownlow that isn't tainted by the second most obvious and consequential political distortion of the tribunal since the Barry Hall hit was cleared.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
