Must say I’m not overly worried about his kicking. It’s a shame cause him tearing a game apart in front of goal for his conscience would be great, but just the marking aspect and him getting his hands on it is awesome for him.

Definitely something to work with.

I’m not overly pleased with it either. Clearly gets too close to the man on the mark. Has no set rhythm or routine. I mean, is Stafford doing anything with our forwards to improve them?

Exactly my thoughts. Result irrelevant. If from this half alone, I can see a future Melbourne KPF and a ruck/forward emerge, I'll be rapt!

and tholstrup has seriously exciting traits plus sestan shows something

adams taken a couple of strong marks defensively too

lots to like

Jeffo has dominated and but for bad kicking could have had 5-6 goals in the first half.

As I have been saying for a year, like I said about Howes, he will play for the Dees.

Too many on here write players off prematurely.

This is a great game to watch. I'm impressed with Tholstrup and Verrell in this game. Finally Jefferson taking some great marks

Not sure what to think about Jeffo. Lots to like about his positioning and marking. But his kicking for goal is close to being a liability. well in this game it actually IS that.

On the positive, theres plenty to work with and  he’s marking  it …thats a big part of being a genuine fwd. But Jury still out for me and he def  won’t be playing in 2024.

Yep it’s ridiculous. If you can’t trust our recruiters by now, you never will 😆

noticed that too! I mean it’s not like he’s just learning to kick for goal is it! All over the place.

Anyone see a lot of Petty in Jed Adams? In the way they play, not just looks 😂

I saw a game two years ago and he kicked them from everywhere! From angles, distance, the lot. Just massively down on kicking confidence, but sheeeit he is mercurial in the air. Really positive signs today😇

Jeffo is normally a very good kick for goal.

Just having a horrible time of it today so far.

Fantastic to hear Jeffo influencing a game

the kicking will come

Really happy with the game so far. The young MFC Demons have all stepped up to the plate and have given the club an outstanding base for the future. Some of the new VFL affiliated players going well also - now we just have to improve our kicking at goals.

Dont think the Casey wind helps anybody. Pretty surprised people aren’t impressed with his game after all the rubbish he’s copped. He is usually an extremely good kick at goal, just an off day.  Each to their own though.

I thought the ground was almost windless today? Anyway it’s good to hear he’s normally a better shot. A relief. I have to be honest and say I haven’t seen that much of him so it’s a small sample size i’m getting vocal about and better to hold my tongue no doubt!

The Casey wind will never die 😂

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
