I am going to and staying in Adelaide for both games. I need suggestions as to where Demon supporters will be eating and drinking before ( and after) the game.

The Strathmore pre game is where youll find a lot of Dees, hope that helps :)

Have a look at the SA Demons facebook page:

"Pre Game, EASTER SATURDAY- vs Power
Strathmore Hotel @5.30pm (upstairs)
Let’s get the Red and Blue for a casual pre game Catch up before walking to the Oval .
Also SAs own Mr Jack Viney’s 200th Game ! (Some surprises in line)
Please note: Gather Round activities will be advised this week!
Let’s go Dees !"

How many Gather Round games are you going to?

If it is like last time, the team will be staying at the Playford

Now I am back in Adelaide, I am also going to the Gawn-Petracca Symposium a few evenings ahead from now. Love these speeches and query sessions (remembering how good the Bernie Vince discussions were at the Sporting pub in Richmond, a few years ago) - plus winning the door prize of $300-worth of Demon accessories at the next gathering. See yas all at the Strathmore, Easter Saturday pre-game pith-up.

Ummm enjoy the fraternity of fellow Demon diehards.

Personally, I would prefer a nice peaceful environment with the person you love and a glass of McLaren Vale Shiraz, perhaps Samuels Gorge or Paxton, Alexandrina Cheddar and Willunga Olives. There are plenty of quiet spots to indulge life’s pleasures free from the noise of footy supporters. The trick is to avoid the Port Adelaide and Crows fans. Particularly if they win. If we win, take off your scarf.

History confirms your last two sentences, hemingway. As for the wines, I prefer a cabernet-sauvignon for smoothness and versatility with my preferred diet. The cheeses are good, as are the olives but lately, I have been enjoying the varied Italian cheeses on the market for flavour and the rangey complexity of depth. As for noisy football supporters, I do like to watch them pass by on shanks pony - particularly after a Filth loss - thanking God for his wisdom. The person I love will be hiking in her 'latter-years frenzy' to discover the true fountain of youth; she just loves energetic day-long strolls through the bush for days on end. Otherwise, she would be alongside me quietly reciting her latest tome to the Mighty Demons, their infallible successes and those amongst her favourite player list. Carna Dees!

Indeed.

If we win, the life guards will be off duty at the Port Adelaide gene pool

Stay safe

  • GAMEDAY: Western Bulldogs

It's Game Day and the Demons will be running out on the field with a new Head Coach, albeit a caretaker, for the first time in 3,060 days when they face the Western Bulldogs at the MCG today. What do you want to see from the Demons in the first match of the Post Simon Goodwin era?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
