Jefferson has talent, but little aggression or intensity.  The bad news is that's the hardest trait to instill into a player.  Further bad news is that it's the most important trait for a key forward.

Defence is a far easier position for someone with his DNA.

I'm dubious that he'll ever make an AFL key forward.

I know those with red and blue goggles have conniptions about such views.

in total agreeance with you, he has no agro at all, zero intensity.

Forget Petty and Jvr THROW THE KITCHEN SINK AT UGLE HAGEN

this is something I agree with. 😀

Get JUH

3 things need to happen for us to step up again next season

Recruit a ready made forward such as JUH

Adams, Windsor, and 1 of AMW and Brown all have to be AFL solid players next season. Adam’s to replace May, Windsor on the wing, Brown on the bench

Change the game plan and stop relying on Gawn.

I remember at the time, thinking, why are they crucifying Fritsch of half back!?

From what we have seen, Petty learned a bit about playing as a forward when he was a defender

Just one other thing about Clarry, just after 3/4 time a Port Melbourne player came over to Clayton and the joy, cameraderie, and passion was on display with bear hugs and plenty of backslapping and Bonhomie, clearly hadn't seen each other for a time but the obvious rapport was evident! The Port Melbourne player in question was..... Fraser Rosman a 1 time Dee

Was great to see🤩

Thanks Mr Fence.

Fraser was ok on his day.  Thought he might've got one more year and was super unlucky to miss the GF & a medal due to concussion.

A great club man.  He joined in the Casey premiership celebrations after the match and kept his chin up nicely.

Pretty sure he went over to Perth and was in the mix for the post 21 flag celebrations with the senior boys as well.

Jefferson to kick 10 and force his way in I'm hearing

Going to be hard playing from the back pocket!

Brent Grgic kicked 10 on me from a half back flank in school footy once… I chalked it up as a ‘learning opportunity”

Petty + JVR >> JUH

i watched most games at casey when at home, and imo i dont think jeffo has it. hes quite lazy at 2nd efforts. this could come with maturity, but this is a make or break year for me. if he cant get in front of josh schache, then you have serious issues.

Correct. Reminds me of Lucas Cook who was All Australian CHF at U18 level.

If you trawl through Demonland posts you will find plenty of Lucas Cook fans insisting we play him.

Yep, learn the fwd craft by playing down back; see where the fwds run and how to position themselves

Yeah, It’s not new, we tried that with Diamond Jim Tilbrook , only problem was it was during actual matches for 4 points. He did kick it to the centre after a kick- in though.

Don't see Jefferson as the crash or bash forward. Needs to work with Fritch and learn his craft as a smart forward. The point is Melbourne has failed to identify big body forwards for the last decade. They have had so many misses it's not funny. Brown proved useful for one year but long term, we have sold the farm in early draft picks.

Brent Grgic??? Without trying to sound disrepectful, but why didn't you take up another sport earlier and, was your coach a relative?

Im looking forward to seeing Fullarton get a go.

Anyone else pushing for a spot?

Fullarton  likely, Jed Adams impressive, Brown rusty but they might bite the bullet, Brown dog good but needs time, Tholly not far of. Sestan? currently offers more than Spargo and or Chandler. T. Mac impressive at Full Back

Thanks Pickett

Fullarton i feel is a big in, can chop out for Max abd play as a tall and make a contest.

Koz is an important in?

Anyone stand out to replace Bowser?

Salem to go back, Kossy more midfield time, Billings to start, Spargo and Chandler should be very nervous!

Right back at ya baby if you'd trade Petty and JVR for JUH.

Let’s just say I didn’t have AFL recruiters knocking down my door.

For all of his shortcomings at the top level, Brent was actually a fairly handy junior footballer

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
