Why isnโ€™t anybody talking about this?

Fantastic effort by many devoted MFC club and family members over an extended period. Casey Fields continues to improve as a playing & training venue. The whole complex offers a wonderful facility for a variety of sportspeople, local and beyond.

Amazing, thank you to David Thurin, his family, and those generous Tridents.

Hoping they get the rewards of the club staying more than competitive on the field, for at least this generation.ย  ย

A great benefit for the players,ย coaches, and as Wayne Russell mentioned the community.ย

It looks great, I wonder if the MFC can have sole use as needed, or is it a community centre as well.

Would like to see some inside pics, of the gym and pool.

We all should respect a guy who has been so generous to the club we love for so long.

He really deserves more than a building at Casey named after his family

.

Thank you to David Thurin and his family, who have donated in excess of $1 Million to the club.ย

The facility is elite. Campus 1 complete, Campus 2 loading.

@drysdale demonย certainly did mention it in another thread. So, some of us are talking about it, as should everyone. What a generous contribution from a fellow-diehard Dees supporter. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Very impressive and well deserved for our menโ€™s and womenโ€™s teams.

Itโ€™s great that we have a facility like this in Casey but, once again, Iโ€™m disappointed by the clubโ€™s fundraising efforts. ย
Seems like we hit-up a small group of wealthy benefactors but very rarely โ€˜rattle the tinsโ€™ for facilities such as this one or any future high performance base (ie Caulfield).

Its great that we have generous members but I think we could do much better in broadening our fundraising base.

Thurin for a big workout if you go there i reckon

He was always very approachable, had many good discussions with him when he was on the board.

Presumably that's Thurin son of Thrain, King under the Mountain and deliverer of Erebor alongside the wizard Gawndalf?

A huge thank you to the Thurin family and Trident's from our D/Lers for such a generous and supportive facility which further enhances the standard of amenities at Casey Fields.ย

Our female and male sports professionals now have a state of the art venue ( although not in central Melbourne yet) ย which will be appreciated for years. And it will also be for a community use at the same time.ย

Cheers to all who have helped develop this modern facility in the South East and special gratitude ย to the funding and generous donators and contributors as well.ย

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
