Jordie McKenzie, a hard working midfielder from a decade or so ago has landed a plum job as coach of one of the leading A Grade VAFA clubs Collegians replacing another former Demon Jared Rivers …

There's a man who has successfully graduated from the Nathan Jones Academy of Gradually Being Better Looking As You Age.

If he is able to give Collegians' a transfusion of his attitude, they'll be in a very good position.

I suspect I'm not the only one on here with enormous respect for Jordie.

A couple of ex-Demons in the goals.

Returning to his former home club, former Melbourne player Michael Newton kicked 13 goals for Whorouly FNC as they cruised to an 138 point win over the Benalla All Blacks FNC in the Ovens and King FNL. His former Dees teammate and ex-Hawk and Saint James Frawley snagged 8 goals and best on ground honours in Devon Meadows FNC's 42 point win over Somerville FNC, 16.11 107 to 9.11 65 in the Mornington Peninsula Nepean FNL Division 2 match”.

Luke Molan, at the age of 41, is still playing and is currently running around for Heywood in the South West District Football League after crossing from Camperdown (his home town).

Nice article from Paul Amy about our own Juice Newton and his career including his AFL MOTY.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.
