No game on Friday night. Probably because RDB’s memorial service is on Friday.

Surely on a Sunday afternoon at Ikon for $10 a ticket (kids go free) we’ll pull a big crowd.

It'll be so good to see you and the rest of the DA again!  ❤💙

I'm going to try and rope my whole family in, so that should add 5 to the crowd size!

That's a bit rude WCW !

You bastardised my post! I said “I smell a BBQ 😂”  Had I said, “I smell a BBO” I would’ve chosen a different emoji, this one… 💩

AFL really have nothing to do with that unless you feel it is a respect issue for the Club.

That could have featured another game if they wanted to.

State Govt and the Barassi family organised the date arrangements for the Memorial service on Friday.

I am worried about the number of good players we may have missing.

Paxy would be a huge loss. She is such a great player and inspiration.  That said, there is still so much talent in this team. They will want to prove a point after Saturday.

Bring it on!

You think for even a second they wouldn’t have a final on TV on a Friday night? Of course they would!

It actually is out of respect that there’s no matches scheduled for Friday night.

And I wouldn’t say the AFL has nothing to do with it. Ron was a lifetime AFL member and a champion of the VFL/AFL, the inaugural Hall of Fame inductee. Of course the AFL has something to do with it!

I've got my ticket!

This game is anxiety central. Like others, I feel that North is really on the brink of breaking through right now. We need a big effort. Soft fixture or otherwise, everything resets now and nothing is guaranteed, for us or anyone else. Hopefully we'll have the crowd behind us like we did last game against them. Every bit counts!

Yep, have to say I'll really be pleased if we win on Sunday.  Who plays will be important but I think fate might be against us.

I’m actually super confident about Sunday. At Ikon (our home away from home), clement weather predicted (20 degrees with slight chance of rain) in front of what’s expected to be a good-sized crowd and vs North, who I feel we’ll comfortably beat. Bring it on!!!

It would be nice to see some of our M players there to support the girls. I realise they’re still on their break and some of them are away on holidays but even just a couple of them attending would be great. Would mean a lot to the players, I’m sure.

He sure will be. And we’ll likely not even spot him. I’ve noticed at training and warmups etc. when he leaves the field he walks amongst the players and keeps his head down. He knows it’s not about him. Such an incredible person.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
