layzie - great post that I feel reflects the thoughts and sentiments of the overwhelming majority of Demonlanders.
Not that I ever “accept” defeat but the panels thoughts and (mostly) positive analysis puts a lot into perspective, and has made me realise how brutally difficult it is for the club to achieve the ultimate success.
I am even looking forward to hearing their analysis of Friday’s heartbreak.
Then of course there will, no doubt after a well earned break, the speculation then analysis of the trade and draft period before the frustratingly long break before the preseason.
Whatever, just love the Dees frustrating as that can be.

I think a little reminder is in order…

Thank you, mods.

Thank you for the many, many hours you put into this site whilst juggling full-time jobs, families and interests other than footy. Thank you for covering the costs of running the site that ads and subscriptions alone don't quite cover. Thank you for never taking a break: 365 days a year for two decades. Thank you for providing such an informative, interesting and fun space for Dees diehards to talk about the greatest football club in the world.

To the folks who clearly need reminding that there’s certain things that can’t be discussed on DL… If that’s a problem for you, perhaps you can find *another footy forum, one wherein it’s open slather, and anything goes.

What you SHOULDN’T do is create a new thread just to bemoan the censorship. Nor should you mock DL in snide remarks strewn about in other threads. Andy is the one who can and will be sued should something that “crosses the line” be published, even though it’s not him who said it.

*good luck finding another footy forum that comes anywhere near the standard of this one.

edit: I just saw the updated notice that appears above the topics list. Hopefully this time folks read it properly.

Obviously not. Otherwise he’d be lawyering up every five minutes.

Come on M, you of all people should know that’s an entirely different thing (given your background of working in the media).

Once everything is in the public domain, the dynamics change. I find it interesting there is no discussion allowed considering Goodwin and Pert were interviewed on Radio…

I can appreciate how difficult and time consuming it must be to filter problematic content. Having said that, the blanket censorship and removal of posts that has occurred recently stymied Demonland members’ need to talk through what was happening. I found myself turning back to SEN and CH7 (media outlets I had removed from my listening habits) to keep up with developments. I’ll be honest, I felt Demonland had let us down in our hour of need. As superficial as that reaction may have been, it was ‘real’ at the time. Demonland is our first port of call in a crisis. It has a cathartic effect, to share impressions with fellow Demon supporters and seek a balanced view; something the wider media is unlikely to provide. For a period, Demonland became irrelevant! Contribution numbers fell away significantly. There must be some ‘middle ground’ that can be achieved in times like this.

Please re-read the top of the page. It has been updated today.

If you want Demonland to be around to discuss our 14th flag you’ll respect this difficult decision.

There are serious issues that warrant discussion and I wish I could provide a place where they can be discussed without getting into areas that can land me in trouble.

There are plenty of places on the internet to discuss these topics on social media which have deeper pockets then me and are seemingly immune to any fallout

I can’t afford to test the limits and our moderators are volunteers that can’t catch everything.

Don’t think that by shaming me by saying Demonland is/was irrelevant will change my mind when you have no skin in the game.

Ffs, are you serious? “let us down”?!! The mods didn’t let anyone down. That’s emotional manipulation right there. Nor is DL irrelevant, temporarily or otherwise.

If DL means so very much to you, as you’ve made clear in your post, imagine not having it at all. Because that’s what’d happen if the mods end up being sued.

Respect this position. Beware of the voices that urge you take on risk when those voices have no responsibility or accountability. The world is increasingly litigious and populated by folk who feel they should be compensated for some personal hurt or grievance.

Similar to the health industry where everyday medical professionals have to deal with patient requests and demands that may be inappropriate. If the professional provides a service just to avoid a confrontation or to keep the patient happy then the professional takes the risk of being investigated by the relevant health body. A  mistake or wrong action can risk a  professional losing their registration and right to practice. Together with the risk of financial penalty. As you say apropos of Demonland, the editors [censored] is on the line. You owe posters nothing..

Unfortunately, you extracted sentences that supported your knee-jerks!

"As superficial as that reaction may have been, it was ‘real’ at the time". I quote myself acknowledging that I was superficial to think that Demonland had let us down.

"For a period, Demonland became irrelevant!" Meaning; 'not connected with or relevant to something'. Can you see my meaning?

I can see your meaning. If you felt that way AT THE TIME, why post it now? Especially since you acknowledge the superficiality of it.

And by any definition “irrelevant” is something that DL has never been nor will ever be.

Incidentally, one who knee-jerks doesn’t take the time to extract certain sentences. That’s a contradiction in terms.

The answer to your first question is simple. I was posting at the time, but those posts evaporated. I have a copy if you require evidence.

I want to make this clear; I'm referring to Demonland the site, not Demonland an individual.

I'm highlighting the role Demonland (the site) plays in providing a forum that helps steady the ship in a storm. I fully understand the decision that moderators enacted, I'm communicating the side-effects of that action.

I get it. You don’t need to show me evidence since I’ve seen a lot of those posts before they were removed. I just took issue with the tone of your post, I got the vibe of entitlement. Maybe I’m being over-sensitive because I worry about losing this site. That would be just awful and senseless. I love DL for the reasons you outlined above, but I’m forever mindful that we’re lucky to have it and I’d hate for anything to jeopardise it.

on this, why can other platforms discuss this without ramifications and not Dland? interested to hear why you think Dland is different on this? none of the other websites or platforms have been sued at all with any of the discussions that have taken place about any topic. namely bigfooty.

Not arguing just more so pointing out that there is a lot more rumours and inuenndo on there and they havent been brought to their knees.

I totally get the idea of potential risk that you dont want to roll the dice with it though, was more just stating that nothing has happened to the biggest rumor mill of all in bigfooty.
