Salem was non existent today & Bowey not much better, we need Hibberd imo, proven big game performer & our best lock down defender.

Salem had a hard tag on and Bowey played well, not sure what game you were watching.

At the end of the day you really only want to make a change if you have too when you’re consistently winning & especially leading into finals.

Tell Tommo that.........

Words can’t describe just how pumped I am for this game.

Last time we played Collingwood in a final was 1989 at Waverley and we got the W.

We also rolled them in the 88SF, a fantastic day at the G with a bumper crowd, some pre-game fisticuffs and the classic September Colliwobbles.

I can't wait to play them again, I want to see Viney and Sparrow bulldozing them and knock them off their perch.

Sorry I’m not trying to pick a fight, but you can’t be serious about Salem having a heavy tag, who & for what reason would he be tagged for, to stop those dinky little kicks

l also thought Bowey was a bit loose today

They'll give the job to McVee and he'll do a fine job imo.

We could play both him and McVee. Not suggesting we drop McVee but we might want to go smaller against the Pies.

Salem has been non-existent for the last few months unfortunately. What's up with him?

But who you are you dropping from our current defensive 6 for Hibbo?

It can't be a tall because this is a set up that Goody has decided against since half way through the year which no coincidence that we got a run on with our wins since we started with the 3rd tall defender.

Our defensive system is top 3 in most key defensive stats, its right up there in premiership credentials.

If Goody likes a system that is working for us he'll rarely change it up or risk putting it out completely out of wack.

The only reason Hibbo plays is if we lose Rivers, Salem or Bowey to injury.

In Jordon, Grundy, Hibberd & Tmac

out Hunter, Melksham, Turner & Laurie

Oh god not this again. Hunter's fine. He's one of the last players they'd drop.

In fairness, Gawn hasn't done much over the last two weeks since the Carlton game, being the sole ruckman..

That's fine, he's still playing his role. That's all he needs to do.

Goody has already admitted that Grundy experiment hasn't worked as what they thought it be, but again, that's fine. He'll only play if Gawn has to miss.

Internal monologue “I [censored] hate that Hunter [censorino] rah rah and I have I have long running argument with my more successful brother in law about the Grundy trade so I gotta smash him in there, and also Hibbo for that one player I forget his name, and TMac because Grundy’s not going to take a mark soigottagethiminthere…rah”

What exactly does Jordon have over him though?

Unrelated but I used to like the Dana White UFC show 'Looking for a fight'. Thought it was pretty good and refreshing as Ultimate Fighter had gotten a bit boring.

I think he’s a better kick, better overhead, can tackle, can tag, can go into the midfield & doesn’t duck his head.

Please add May, Oliver and Fritsch to your outs to make this even more realistic.

Do you think Melksham, Turner & Laurie will play?

Hunter won’t get dropped I’ll admit that & Grundy won’t get another gig, it’s a forum so let’s not all get to angry over people’s opinions

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
